Item Normy, standardy, wskaźniki w zarządzaniu zbiorami(BIBLIOTEKA GŁÓWNA AKADEMII EKONOMICZNEJ W KRAKOWIE, 2001) Jazdon, ArturPreconditions that must be fulfilled while attempting to formulate indices concerning collections management are presented in the publication. Questions that should be answered are listed: how to make a calculation, how should the indices be constructed, is it possible to construct universal indices. An attempt was made to select a group of indices that could be calculated. The publication also presents a suggestion of introducing four basic indices and an explanation which purposes and whom the indices could be useful for in practice.Item Nowoczesne zarządzanie w starych murach(2010) Jazdon, ArturThis article discusses the experiences over the past years at Poznań University Library in implementing modem organizational solutions to create customized working environment. The Library is housed in a hundred-year-old building and its old architectural structure makes it impossible to introduce radical and innovative spatial and architectural solutions. Despite the limitations imposed by the structure of the workshop environment, the management o f the Library makes every possible effort to minimize the existing constraints and barriers in collection, services and, primarily, human resources management. At the same time, the importance of the group o f staff labelled as knowledge workers, whose members have high levé o f competence in particular fields, appropriate education or experience and for whom the most important goal is to do research and to foster dissemination o f its results or its applications, is being emphasized. This group also includes librarians. It is their innovativeness and productivity that influences to a high degree a successful operation of an institution. This group, however, on account o f its position within the structure of an organization, is more than ready to question management styles or organizational issues of their parent institutions should a need arise. A creation of proper organizational culture of staff and its subsequent maintenance poses then a serious challenge that requires a particular set of actions.
