This work focuses on the issue of personal models and how they influence humans throughout their life. Analysis of terminology relates to significant persons (such as personal models, authorities, mentors, coaches), whose personality and behaviour influence how others function and develop. The monograph contains a discussion of unconscious and conscious influences of models on the individual and the mechanisms underpinning these, such as imitation, modelling and identification, as well as how personal models influence individuals at different developmental stages. Particular attention is paid to the significance of value systems (especially within the family), which foster the mental development of children, adolescents and adults, as well as the consequences of the insufficiency or lack of positive personal models in life today.
