Item L opposition entre nom et verbe : le problème de l'infinitif(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2005) Bulikowski, BrunonIn this article the author considers grammatical properties of the infinitive in the French language. Because the French infinitive possesses properties both typical of the verb and of the noun, in order to define its grammatical status it is necessary to mark the boundaries between the two mentioned categories. To illustrate the complexity of this task the author refers to languages in which verbal-nominal opposition differs from that in the French language. Both morphological and syntactic aspects have been here taken into consideration. In the final part of the article the author quotes an interesting theory of G. Guillaume which allows the classification of grammatical categories, the infinitive included, on the basis of the relation of semantic character occurring between them.Item Le semantique des subordonnants de cause(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2003) Bulikowski, BrunonThis paper deals with the semantic values of grammatical means expressing casual relationships in a sentence. The study focuses on constructions based on the relation of subordination. The author undertakes a typology based on semantic criteria. A large portion of the paper is devoted to the grammatical means simultaneously expressing the cause and the time. The author was inspired by observations made during language classes with French majors.Item Les critères de classement des catégories grammaticales - une perspective diachronique(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2001) Bulikowski, BrunonThis paper deals with different ways of classifying grammatical categories, from the antiquity to the present. The author refers to the works of Aristotle as well as to ideas of American and European structural grammarians. A large part of this article is devoted to an explication of the medieval Modistes theory of speculative grammar. This paper is also concerned with the opposition between grammatical and logical criteria.
