However, its value as a way of artistic expression in general language is indisputable, its presence in the specialised languages may be strongly questionable. How to explain the success of metaphor among the terms? What is its type and function? What is the mechanism of the meaning and the direction of metaphorisation in the language of hydrology, French and Polish? He used to call himself a centaur, because of his double disposition: novelist/poet and chemist. Levi, stretched between being Italian and Jew, writer and chemist, commentator and translator, between the «daily» and «nightly» writing, was able to transcend the common division between letters and science. He was interested in contamination, mixture, mutation, and discussed hybridity in many essays and literary scherzos to show convolutions of human condition and prolific richness of life. Levi's unusual powers of observation combine with an abundance of themes and literary forms, which proves that his works are marked by hybridism at morphological level as well.Item Un aspetto particolare del plurilinguismo della societŕ italiana: il rapporto lingua vs. dialetti nell'insegnamento scolastico in Italia(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Beszterda, IngeborgaThis article presents the issue of linguistic policy and the attitude of educational authorities towards dialects from the point of view of the multi-lingual and multiculture Italian society. Due to specific historical conditions the linguistic situation in Italy is characterized by a high degree of heterogeneity -numerous dialects exist alongside the national language. After the period of the political unity of Italy in 1861 the educational authorities have had to tackle two problems: the necessity of having to choose a linguistic norm and also mutual relations between the language and the dialects. Those issues were and still are highly controversial and are subject to heated polemics as the answer to the question of whether to accept dialects or eliminate them from school education has never been found.Item Una breve sintesi sulla presenza degli anglicismi nel settore delle lingue speciali riguardo all 'italiano contemporaneo(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Szpingier, BeataThis article presents the classification and description of borrowings from the English language in the sector of special languages with reference to contemporary Italian. The aim of the analysis is to describe the semantic relation between the referent of the phraseological unit (E0) and a referent of its updated form in discours (El), modified either at the formal or semantic level. The analysis was done on the basis of some articles from French press (Liberation, le Figaro, Courrier International) and from Polish press (Gazeta Wyborcza, Newsweek) including delexicalized units.Item Exemple au service de la spiritualité conjugale : les couples royaux dans « Le Livre de la vertu du sacrement de mariage » de Philippe de Mézières(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Loba, AnnaThe reading of the didactic works dedicated to the feminine public at the end of the Middle Ages teaches us that their authors treat the marriage as a natural vocation of the woman and although they are not indifferent to the religious dimension of the conjugal reality, it is the terrestrial and profane aspect that interests them more. So the works such as the Livre pour l'enseignement de ses filles of Geoffroy de La Tour Landry, Mesnagier de Paris and even Le Livre des Trois Vertus of Christine de Pizan appear in the form of textbooks in which the women can find any sort of rules, even practical advice on how to become a good wife and how to make a successful marriage. Among these books concerning the conjugal savoirfaire, the treaty of Philippe de Mézières Le Livre de la Vertu du sacrament de marriage et reconfort des dames mariés (1385-1389) occupies a very particular place. At first because the material sphere and everyday life of the life of a couple interest him only marginally, then because he turns all his attention to the essence of the marriage. Through his return in the spiritual conceptions of the marriage Philippe de Mézières anticipates his time. By putting in the heart of the marriage the love, by putting the love as the foundation of the marital union, he contributes to the advent of the modern couple which will triumph only after the Council of Thirty.Item «Ne pas traduire, c'est traduire encore». Et si la non-traduction était un procédé de traduction ?(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Bocquet, Catherine AThis paper shows the manifold aspects of the non-translation phenomenon : besides shortened and summarized versions, which alter the source text in a quantitative way, non-translation can also have a qualitative effect, for instance when sociocultural references are erased. If non-translation is an infringement of the translator's duties, in some cases it can be a very fruitful solution. There is a lack of literature on the subject, and although it is often mentioned briefly, this phenomenon has never been tackled seriously.Item Une illustration littéraire du mythe de l'Éternel Retour : « Le Jardin des supplices » d'Octave Mirbeau (1899)(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Lair, SamuelIn Mirbeau's novel Le Jardin des supplices (1899), the circular representation, completed and relayed by design of the plant, should be read violently. The reader conceives some philosophical influences or convergences. The Narcissus myth is subjected here to a literary transmutation. The novel tells a personal obsession; it becomes a reconciliation between earlier fictions [L'Abbé Jules (1888), Dans le ciel (1892-1893)] and his dramatic work which is coming.Item Téte-à-téte avec Hamlet ou Jules Laforgue et George Rodenbach suites sur les pas de William Shakespeare(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Lewandowska, AlicjaThe aim of the paper at hand is to find parallel elements between the following two texts: Jules Laforgue's Hamlet, ou les suites de la piété filiale (1886) and George Rodenbach's Bruges-la-Morte (1892), in relation to William Shakespeare's play. Our analysis is of a three-level character. Firstly, it is concerned with a comparison of biographies of the two 19th century authors. Secondly, it takes into its scope the plot events of both texts in question. Thirdly, it attempts to explain the linguistic transposition of poetry into prose. The final goal of this perusal is a demarcation of common points of reference between the three texts, which, in turn, is to prove Hamlet's intertextuality.Item «Petites difficultés » de traduction et la volonté de rester francophone en Amérique du Nord(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Merkle, DeniseThis article outlines briefly Acadian literary history in New Brunswick from 1970 to the present and concentrates on four writers: A. Maillet (La Sagouiné), R.G. LeBlanc ("Je suis Acadien"), G. Leblanc (Moncton Mantra) and F. Daigle (Petites difficultés d'existence). Their work is marked by the portrayal of sociolinguistic conflict between minority French and dominant English in Canada. We attempt to determine the consequences of this conflict on the translation of the works into English. Each literary presentation is followed by a short analysis of the respective translated passage taken from La Sagouine (L. de Céspedes), "I am Acadian" (F. Cogswell/J.-A. Elder), Moncton Mantra (J.-A. Elder) and Life's Little Difficulties (R. Majzels).Item Nationalisme et littérature au cours de la renaissance acadienne (1864-J930). The distorted sensory perception affects their contact with reality and their understanding of certain phenomena. Their individual human corporality changes the sense of reality.Item Les constructions bàties sur les noms de relations converses -principes d'analyse syntagmatique(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2008) Nkollo, MikołajStructural modeling of sentences based on the nouns of converse relations has to be designed so as to take into account the diversity of syntactic functions covered by this class of language signs. It implies taking into consideration particular features of pairs of converse relations depending on the part of speech they represent. Fundamental methodological assumptions of this approach are to be sought in socalled "semantically based grammar".
