Item Pojęcie wolności i jego teoretyczne konotacje(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Kopinska, ViolettaThere do exist two basic approaches towards the term ‘freedom’. The first one, is a general approach, related to an universal meaning of the term. The second one, is a particular approach, based on taking/heading for understanding of freedom in plural terms. Both approaches might, but not necessary do, exclude each other. An alternative takes an interpretation of particular freedoms, which simultaneously excludes the existence of a universal freedom (and the other way around). On the other hand, conjunction, i.e. the examination of a universal freedom on the basis of analysis of particular freedoms and/or reconstruction of the term “freedom” on the basis of interpretations and meanings given to particular freedoms. As a follower of the idea of conjunction of both approaches, I’m analyzing in this paper the theoretical connotations of this term such as: the feeling of freedom, its limitations, responsibility, tolerance, auto-creation and self-realization. This is being done for the reason to stress out the depth and the vastness of freedom, as well to let the potential reader reconstruct it.Item The Trouble with Diversifying the Faculty(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Michaels, Walter BennThis article presents the problem of politics of difference realized within the American educational system, with a special emphasis on higher education. On one hand, the author analyzes such phenomena as the marketisation of academic knowledge, which becomes a “commodity for sale”, and scientists, because of the dependence of the big bussines are forced to give up their passion for seeking truth. On the other hand, the learning process is shown in the context of the prevailing reductionist phenomenon of “supermarketization”, where the student becomes the client and the university is transformed into a big department store.Item spis treści - polski, angielski(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012)Item Monitoring Students’ Information Pro ciency at Higher Pedagogical Educational Establishments of Poland and Ukraine(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Shevchuk, LesyaThe article deals with the development of students’ information proficiency in the Polish Republic and Ukraine. The new orientation leads researchers to explore new paths – one of them may be the inclusion of popular culture with all its potential, not excluding popular arts, to the educational canon. This text is an attempt to approximate the popular arts as having significant educational potential in reference to the critical pedagogy. I will try to prove that even purely entertaining aspects of culture may have educational content. First of all, I would like to describe a critical orientation in pedagogy; I will present its practical side in relation to the deconstruction of cultural meanings and nally, I will show some consequent implications for relations between culture and education. The next part of my considerations will concern the popular culture as an educational area, with particular emphasis on a game as the source of culture and as an inherent element of popular arts. I will present in detail associations between popular arts and education based on Polish cabaret which I acknowledged as a place, where basic tasks and functions of critical pedagogy can be seen and realized. Finally, I will present some parts of interviews which had been conducted as my researches – these are the respondents’ opinions about cabaret and its interpretation. This part seems to be showing cabaret as a place of discourse, where a critical dialogue between the sender, the content and the recipient of cabaret transmission takes place.Item Kariera jako „własność” jednostki – rozważania teoretyczne nad definicyjnym credo(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Cybal-Michalska, AgnieszkaThe narration of this article is focused on showing various ways of capturing the phenomenon of career from a subjective perspective. The subject of an analysis will be the reconstruction of chosen theoretical perspectives, where one emphasizes changes in quality attitude to the career phenomenon and showing the “career making” meaning of people’s activities. The content presented in this article is concentrated on a subjective, personal aspect of capturing a career. In this sense, career is always ascribed to a specific individual, it is their assets and this particular individual attaches importance to the career phenomenon. In this sense, career is the sequence of experiences of a particular individual, linked with the quality of a professional life; this is a unique structure, resulting from autonomous choices.Item Edukacja medialna: ziemia wciaz nieznana?…(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Ogonowska, AgnieszkaThe paper describes the nature of media education, its main domains and aims of education in this matter, the state of research and practical solutions in Poland and the world as well as the diffi culties related to the student and shaping the media competences.Item O dużych dziewczynkach i ich małych lalkach – reborn w kulturze ponowoczesnej(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Zaworska-Nikoniuk, DorotaThe article deals with the analysis of the phenomenon of simulating motherhood and fatherhood by playing reborns – realistic baby-like dolls, it describes the process of reborns creation, the intentions of artists who create them and the motives of people who use ‘artificial children’. The article gives a threefold analysis of the phenomenon: the striving for living in perfect reality that is simulated (based on the concept by J. Baudrillard), acting the play of family life in the magic world of consumption (based on the concept by G. Ritzer) and aiming at collecting experiences, impressions and emotions (based on the concept by Z. Bauman). As an educationalist I am considering the following: may using reborns have a therapeutical and educational aspect and what is their role in the postmodern world.Item Działania afirmatywne na Uniwersytecie Harvarda(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Hejwosz, DariaAffirmative action was introduced to the American universities in the 1960s. The aim of this policy was to benefit the underrepresented groups, especially African Americans both in the higher education and the job market. The affirmative action was introduced to ensure equal opportunities as well as cultural diversity. The policy of Harvard University towards African Americans, Asian Americans and the other excluded groups was analyzed in this article. Moreover, the attempt to reconstruct the current debate about outcomes of the affirmative action was made. The article also tries to answer the following questions: did the affirmative action increase the number of the minority groups at Harvard University? Has the policy of equal opportunities eliminated inequalities or, on the contrary has it deepened them?Item strona redakcyjna(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012)Item Alternatywność i innowacyjność w edukacji współczesnej – na przykładzie Czech(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Zamojska, EvaThe article in its introduction does present an attempt of facing the dificulties in defining alternativity and innovation in education, taking as the basis opinions of Polish and Czech pedagogists and theoreticians. Globalization fulfills a wide spectrum of the global world phenomena in the situation of unobviousness, diversity, ambivalence and ambiguity, which influence the new quality of sociocultural life. Trying to understand the content given to the distinguished definitions of society, intellectuals refer to the theory of the social development and to the interpretation of the mechanisms of a social change, with a focus on the spheres of social life, which are the impulses for changes taking place in the society. Emphasizing heterogeneity and changeability of forms of postmodern social organization, one may point to the following orientations capturing subtleness of the contemporary society: orientation to a global change, orientation to a certain type of civilization ascription to risk, orientation to responsibility, orientation to anticipation, orientation to responsible participation and cooperation in a changing and interdependent global society, orientation to knowledge, orientation to experience borrowed from the media, orientation to the consumption ideology. Society faces the task of selfdetermination in the situation of non-obviousness, risk, fragmentation and ambiguity. By no accident then, were the the globalizational processes in the world and a critical and permanent thought and evaluation of the changes taking place in the modern global society, in the focus of the authoress. Paying attention to the quality of the global “cultural ecumene” (U. Hannerz) inclines reflection about global changes in lifestyles which is meaningful for the quality of changes in the job world and career planning and career management practices. The sequential development of an individual (which is integrally linked with the career development) constitutes the essence of the process, which is lifelong. The economy which is based on knowledge determines the orientation on knowledge of the contemporary society. The development of careers of members in such a society is its crucial element. Moreover, the quality of socio-cultural and economic changes will demand constant career management and modification of its individualized paths.Item Polemiki i recenzje(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Karmolińska-Jagodzik, Ewa; Klichowski, Michał; Miśko, Patrycja; Wierzba, PaulinaItem Krytyczna teoria rasy (Critical Race Theory) i obecność koncepcji rasy w kontekscie przeszłych i bieżących amerykańskich dyskusji edukacyjnych(Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu im.Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu, 2012) Drozdowicz, JaremaThe concept of race seems to be, despite the efforts of various political movements of 1960’s still present in the public life and education in the Unites States. Contemporary educational debates in America in most cases tackle this problem through the lenses of a specific research approach which takes the concept of race as granted, when examining social relations in the American society. This approach, generally called Critical Race Theory (CRT) had been established in the late 1980’s, but its theoretical, methodological and political roots go back to the decade of the Vietnam War and the assassination of Martin Luther King or even further. This paper makes an attempt to deliver a closer look at the CRT and to highlight its most important assumptions and forms of political actions undertaken within the common frame of the racial concept. The Boasian tradition in the American way of conceptualization of race is an important factor in this debate. The past and present educational debates in the USA prove the fact that the idea of race is undergoing nowadays an intensive shift from its biological basis towards economic and social differences making the new conflicts even more visible in the American political landscape today.
