This is due to the specific nature of the globalized reality of sociocultural, in particular popular culture and consumerism, which are the main element of youth lifestyle emphasizing the role of unlimited possibilities in shaping their own identity and way of life of the elements that once were dependent mainly on class membership.Item The Model of Professional Development School (PDS) as a Practice of Partnership University-Schools in Teacher Education: A Multi-year Evaluation Study in Israel(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Bar, NavaThe article presents in its first part the partnership model – PDS (Professional Development School) for teacher education that developed in the 1970s in the United States following criticism and research findings that indicated lack of satisfaction with the traditional teacher education programs. In its second part the article presents findings and discussion of a multi-year study conducted over seven years, from 2010 to 2016, in the first and up till now the only PDS partnership incorporated into teacher training program in research university in Israel. The multi-year study focused on student teachers’ evaluation of the contribution of the teacher training components of the universityschool partnership model (PDS) to their learning of teaching: the practice teaching in the school and the school mentors; the groups of student colleagues as learning communities and their weekly meetings and the university coordinators. From the perception of the PDS partnership as a dynamic and developing process and from the approach of evidence-based practice, the importance of this multi-year study lies in the identification of the essential strengths in the process of the practical experience expressed in the partnerships for their empowerment. In addition the importance of this research is in the identification of the essential weaknesses and challenges, for the purpose of enquiry and learning in the learning communities who take part in the PDS partnerships, and the raising of the necessary courses of action and changes. The importance of the research study in the international aspect lies in the presentation of an additional profile of partnership for the extension of the shared discussion about dilemmas and challenges that arise from the implementation of different partnerships in the training of teachers.Item Kultura organizacyjna szkoły integracyjnej w zwierciadle kultury pogranicza(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Gajdzica, ZenonThe thesis is put forward in the presented article that the organizational specificity of integrated education creates a unique culture with some characteristics of typical borderland. Integrated school is a place where the dominating and the subordinated culture clash and/or collaborate. Depending on the precisely specified assumptions, beliefs, the recognized values and norms (consolidated within the institutional knowledge of a particular school), two different cultures of integrated school can be formed. These cultures are shaped by two types of social practices and two different models of the functioning of school. The study is aimed at a preliminary attempt to specify these models. They are assumed to comprise a set of notions which constitute analytical categories useful in describing the daily routine of school. Moreover, these models may become a tool for interpreting and understanding the states, processes and features of some elements of school and their interrelations.Item Changes in the Educational Practice in Kindergartens in the Czech Republic(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Burkovičová, RadmilaRelatively extensive changes are currently taking place in the system of preschool education in the Czech Republic, which will mainly affect the educational landscape of kindergartens. A personalityoriented model of preschool education requires a considerate, understanding and helping approach to each child. The joint education of all children, where inclusion occurs for certain children who were excluded from children’s communities in the past, is happening within the context of Czech and international legislation. Supporting measures are provided to children where required. However, such measures may ultimately also benefit the teacher.Item Kształtowanie gotowości do zmiany jako element działań preparacyjnych w procesie resocjalizacji(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Chojecka, JanaThis article approximates the main issues relate to question what can make social rehabilitation more effective and efficient. Contemporary research focus on concept of readiness and motivation as main components of effective programming for offenders. In the literature we can find many different definitions used by researchers to describe the fenomenon of being ready, willing and able to engage in social rehabilitation process and to change offending behaviors. I will try to show some theories how people change and some methods which can increase readiness to engage in programms.Item On the Continuum Between Educational and Academic Goals – Results from a Qualitative Research on Israeli High School Homeroom Educators and Subject Teachers(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Bar Gosen, NoahThis research project presents different role perceptions regarding educational and academic aims, among high school instruction personnel. Since its foundation the Israeli education system has defined its role as a socialization agent as well as an academic institution. As national and international achievement tests became more widespread, the focus on academic aspect increased and the influence of academic excellence on school grading can be seen as more influential in comparison to educational achievements. Semi-structured interviews of 14 high school teachers – homeroom educators and subject teachers – were conducted. Results show that homeroom educators put more emphasis on educational aims while subject teachers put more emphasis on academic achievements. Their definition of success was a mixture of both objectives. Homeroom educators tend to apply educational inclusive practices while subject teachers tend to apply instructional ones. International research emphasizes the importance of educational aims and inclusive practices in promoting academic achievements for all (OECD, 2010). The emphasis on evaluation and assessment of academic achievements may results in exclusive practices. These results suggest that adding educational achievements to schools' evaluation scales can encourage all instruction personnel to promote educational aims and inclusive practices as well as academic ones, thus contributing to schools' performance in evaluation tests.Item Interdyscyplinarne, sieciowo-systemowe podejście do procesu readaptacji i reintegracji społecznej osób skazanych i ich rodzin(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Nowak, Beata MariaThe author presents a holistic, network and systemic approach to the provision of assistance and support for individuals who are marginalised, at risk of exclusion and excluded. The author sees the adaptation of the clustering idea and theory and the compatible coopetition strategy as a real chance for a breakthrough in thinking about social re*adaptation and reintegration and for an effective modernisation of an inefficient prevention and social rehabilitation system.Item MARIAN SURDACKI, Opieka społeczna w Polsce do końca XVIII wieku, Towarzystwo Naukowe Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II, Lublin 2016, ss. 638(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Bednarz-Grzybek, RenataItem T3/ZOOM w edukacji akademickiej (poszukiwanie tematów prac dyplomowych przez studentów)(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Olczak, MałgorzataProblem finding is described as behaviours, attitudes and cognitive processes that are responsible for creating a vision, posing and formulating problems. Problem finding is an alternative towards behaviours, attitudes and processes participating in solving problems (Jay, Perkins 1997). Problem finding constitutes a significant part of problem7based thinking related to the processes of discovering, formulating and reformulating problems (Szmidt 2003). It is active in “the first phase of solving problems when becoming curious about a situation we try to realise the difficulty and formulate a question that would adequately reflect the situation we find ourselves in as well as the goal we strive for” (Szmidt 2003, 23 [own transl.]). Hence, the question becomes the main element of the process of searching for the problem because it satisfies the cognitive anxiety, while the answer is the central element of the process of solving problems (Arlin 1990). The author analyzed problem finding in the area of polytechnic education. She proposed employing her original T3/ZOOM technique of finding problems and cognitive tasks for the search for Bachelor’s thesis topics by the students.Item Edukacja tubylcza a procesy rewitalizacji etnicznej autochtonicznych mniejszości – wybrane modele i egzemplifikacje(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Gmerek, TomaszThe article deals with the issue of the relation between indigenous education and mainstream schooling in processes of autochtonous minorities ethnic revitalization. Afterwards the principles of place'based pedagogy are presented and it’s eclectic character is pointed out. Then, attempt explain idea of the memorial sites from the standpoint of history and pedagogy. In the final part the author relates to educational potential of (national) memorial sites and takes a stance on the role of memorial sites in citizenship education.Item Kreowanie doświadczeń liminalnych w szkole z wykorzystaniem metody dramy edukacyjnej(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Jaskulska, SylwiaThe aim of the paper is to consider the possibility of creating liminal experiences at school with the method of educational drama and the pedagogical potential of such activities. Treated as the medium phase of rite, I define liminality in line with Arnold van Genepp and Victor Turner. By claiming that for many reasons school is a liminal space and showing that the fact that this function is neglected at the cost of the transmission function is a problem, I present drama as a possible antidote.Item Zarządzanie placówką oświatową – pomiędzy ideałami a rzeczywistością(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Pawłowski, Roman; Wołoszyn, BeataThe aim of this article is to present dilemmas that are experienced by directors/headmasters of educational institutions. On the one hand, they carry out tasks strictly defined by the education law documents, on the other hand, they are expected to create educational leadership. Reality shows that, what the directors would like the most is to pursue directing an education institution in the democratic style, but just as often, in fact, they represent an authoritarian management style. This stems from the multiplicity of tasks they have to perform and the external pressure of the governing authority, the pedagogical supervisory body and the influence of state policy. This situation raises concerns about the functioning of educational institutions and the final outcome of formal education: effective education for life in a democratic society.Item Dziecko w przestrzeniach języka ojczystego – wybrane aspekty(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Kuszak, KingaThe article discusses various spaces of children’s linguistic functioning and the wealth of linguistic experiences available in each of them. The author points to the fact that each of these spaces provides children with different vital experiences. The starting point for the reflections on the spaces of native language is Ferdinand de Saussure’s concept of speech as a human ability and language as a set of forms of speech uses. The term “linguistic space” and the criteria for determining a space were adopted from the works of Kwiryna Handke who emphasized that language, as an integral structural component of social space and the community that uses it, plays two roles in this space: it reflects the community’s perception of its surroundings and provides help and basic tool for shaping the space. Therefore, the forms of language use differ according to the spaces, situations and roles which one encounters. The next part of the paper presents selected vocabulary that children may potentially acquire in the following spaces: family, kindergarten (school), peer group, via Internet communication, as viewers of TV commercials and readers (recipients) of literature. The summary presents the spaces of children’s linguistic functioning in the form of a chart, taking into account the roles adopted by children in each space, places and situations distinctive of the space, as well as the words, expressions, and language tools typical for each space.Item Edukacyjna rola szkoły i nauczyciela wychowania fizycznego w kształtowaniu aktywności fizycznej młodzieży(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Wartecka-Ważyńska, AgnieszkaPhysical activity is an important element in psychophysical development of any human, including children and young people. Rational and regular participation in vigorous physical activity contributes to improvement and maintaining good health status. It also affects mood of a person and determines the quality of his or her life. The aim of the paper is to determine the role of school in the context of the factors that stimulate physical activity among young people at the age of 16 to 20 years. The paper has a literature-based and empirical character. The basic research methodologies adopted in the study included analysis of subject literature, diagnostic survey using questionnaire technique, and a statistical method. The questionnaire survey was carried out in 2012-2013 in secondary schools in the region of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland in a group of 850 students. The study demonstrated that young people are physically active and participate in different forms of sport and recreation. However, one third of the young people studied spend their leisure time in a passive manner. They are not involved in any physical activity and spend their leisure time playing computer games, watching the TV, socializing, reading books and magazines and listening to the music. It should be noted that, in this context, the role of physical education teachers and school is critical.Item Globalne testy szkolne i ukryty program neoliberalnej kolonizacji(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Gromkowska-Melosik, AgnieszkaTests have influence on the phenomenon of stratification and selection of students, their lifestyle and way of thinking. Without a doubt, they have their hidden curriculum. At the micro level tests shape the identity of the individual. They are a factor of socialization. On the other hand, at the macro level tests are the significant instrument of educational policy governments. In my article I analyse the econd problem – in the context of international developments PISA tests, which are an instrument of neo-liberal policies of national governments, as well as the OECD. The tests are part of the abandonment of the idea of "equality in education" for the system market and competitiveness, in which education ceases to be a "public good" and becomes a "personal good." The essence of the hidden curriculum PISA test is the pursuit of homogenization student population living in culturally different countries as well as the shaping the attitudes of rivalry.Item Sprawozdanie z Międzynarodowej Konferencji Naukowo-Szkoleniowej „Profilaktyka i promocja zdrowia psychicznego dzieci i młodzieży w placówkach oświatowych” 1 – 2 grudnia 2016 roku(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Jarmużek, Joanna; Cytlak, IzabelaItem Niezamierzone skutki stosowania testów wysokiej stawki. Lekcja z amerykańskiej reformy NCLB(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Zawistowska, AlicjaEducational decision makers willingly draw on solutions adopted in other countries. It was also the case in Polish educational reform started in late 90s. Since the introduction of the reform, Poland joined countries whose educational system is divided into three levels, each ending with an exit exams and core curriculum is set to teaching standards. The exams seem to be the most important element of the Polish reform. While the designers of educational policies are often inspired by the experiences of other countries during the planning phase, they are less willing to learn from them when it comes to predicting outcomes of the reform. A good case to analyze potential consequences of high'stakes testing is United States, where standardized tests have been administered since the beginning of the era of mass education. In this paper I will analyze the effects of the last, most controversial federal reform, commonly known as No Child Left Behind introduced in 2002. Findings of the study might be used to predict potential unintended effects of using the high stakes tests for accountability policy. The article addresses the problem of test scores inflation as well as the factors which may accelerate it.Item Nastoletnie macierzyństwo – szansa czy ograniczenie? Doświadczenia małoletnich matek z grup defaworyzowanych(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Skowrońska-Pućka, AgnieszkaThis article deals with the issues of early motherhood. Early parenting is a critical event in the life of teenage girls. Teens are mentally and socially immature and unprepared to fulfill the role of mother. Besides minor mothers usually come from poor families, are pupils in primary or secondary schools, do not work, do not have a steady income and own apartment, and in this case remain under the custody care and educational institution. The article is an attempt to answer the question, as teenagers from disadvantaged groups, pupil of childcare centers and describe the experience of motherhood. What is surprising, despite initial concerns and difficulties in retrospect evaluate them as a gift and a blessing, a source of valuable life experience and even a protective factor against the occurrence of other problems care and education.
