The awarding of academic degrees and titles in the XXI century is still associated with a consistent structure during which specific rituals – characteristic for University or even each field of study – take place. They become an exemplification of prestige in the academic world, the position of professors, as well as other social groups, and crystallize the place in the hierarchy of various individuals and groups of people, as well as the academic capital that they represent. In this article, I will focus on this initial level of academic career which is a doctorate and especially at this ceremonial or symbolic ritual of passage – the doctoral promotion.Item Pedagogiczne emergencje w 1993 roku. Cienie przeszłości czy szanse teraźniejszości?(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2018) Kwieciński, ZbigniewThe 25th anniversary of the Department of Educational Studies is an inspiration for the author to return to the pedagogical events of 1993. The article by Mikołaj Kozakiewicz published this year contains warnings that the chances of Polish education after a major educational change after 1989 (democracy, pluralism, europeization) are lost, and anticipates their reversal. centralism, authoritarianism, ideological monism, the closing of Poland to Europe are coming back. These anxieties also appeared at the First National Pedagogical Congress in Rembertów in 1993, although the prevailing concern was whether pedagogy as science kept up with the great changes. At the same time, a new formation and a generation of academic pedagogues emerged at this Congress, undertaking new challenges of this time. Unfortunately, sociologists and intercultural psychologists studies have shown that the chances of great change have been educationally wasted, which is manifested in the low culture of everyday life of Poles and in the persistence of Polish perennial, negative social stereotypes. The author, however, finds and presents reasons for the pedagogy of possibilities, supporting the development of people to autonomy and humanity.Item School Psychologist’s Interventions to Promote Successful School Re-Entry of Chronically ill Children Aiming at Altering Peers’ Attitudes Towards Them(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2018) Nowakowska, IwonaThe aim of this article is to outline school psychologist’s interventions, which might be useful while supporting a chronically, somatically ill child in their re-entry to school, aiming at broadening their peers’ knowledge about the chronic disease and positively changing their attitudes towards the ill child. In the first part, the importance of peer relationships in childhood and adolescence, the relation of their quality to school absences and the positive role of school attendance in the process of adaptation to illness and recovery, are presented. Then, the arguments for school psychologist to become an agent of child’s positive school re-entry are provided. A framework of tasks to be performed by psychologist in the school setting is outlined. The second part focuses on the interventions which might be useful to meet expectations the environment has towards school psychologist in case of an ill child’s return to school. Among them, negative messages’ delivery, educational workshops design and delivery, promoting self-advocacy of the child, preventing violence and supporting child’s siblings have been chosen as important areas of actions related to the child’s peers. A selection of suggestions how to deal with these diverse fields of activity has been outlined, basing on re-entry models, as well as on useful directions and interventions to prevent bullying and support children in developing psychosocial competences, which are discussed in research reports, metaanalyses and professional literature.Item Sprawozdanie z VIII Ogólnopolskiej Konferencji Naukowej z cyklu „Edukacja wczoraj, dziś i jutro”, pod tytułem „Uczeń – kim był, kim jest, kim być może?” Poznań, 24 maja 2018 roku(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2018) Taylor, Sarah; Nowicki, MichałItem The Relationships and Differences of the Kantian Philosophy and Pedagogy in Regard to Postmodern Pedagogic(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2018) Zieliński, PawełThe aim of the study is articulated in the title. The author is reconstructing Kantian philosophy and pedagogic, the thesis of postmodernism and post-modern pedagogic and indicates the relationships and differences of those two systems. Both Kant and the Baden-based neo-Kantians enabled the emancipation of the humanities. The Kantian model of pedagogy was the basis for pedagogic directions, belonging to the meta-theory of humanistic education and critical pedagogy, especially the postmodern one. There are clear links with Kantian ideas of pedagogy, the way to capture the role of dignity, knowledge and freedom in the morality of a human being. There are also significant differences: Kant did not include to his pedagogy social, political and pluralistic questions, which are so important in postmodern pedagogy.Item Stimulating the Learning of Polish and Czech Students with the Use of e-Learning Resources(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2018) Ogrodzka-Mazur, Ewa; Szafrańska, Anna; Malach, Josef; Chmura, MilanThe article is a result of the collaboration between Polish and Czech scientists who explore the issues of applying the resources from e-learning environment by academic teachers.
