Yet it seems that those who experience their consequences the most are middle-aged adults and the elderly, i.e. the generations that are responsible for rearing and educating the youngest citizens. The changes, which can be described in terms of increasing heterogeneity, ambiguity and mobility, constitute a signifi cant driving force for progress. However, at the same time they may also become a source of anxiety as well as of a sense of threat and alienation. In the present article we discuss the directions and quality of changes that ought to be introduced in the education system in order to secure stable (but not infl exible) foundations for students, guaranteeing their safe start for the future and unconstrained functioning in conditions that are still hard to defi ne at the moment. In our opinion, creating opportunities for all the participants and clients of educational institutions to experience different roles, both within and outside of these institutions (in the social environment of a school), is of crucial importance for the process of introducing the above changes. Additionally, it appears vital to employ a project approach, teamwork with groups of various sizes and state-of-the-art information and communication technologies as basic aids of education.Item Kazimierz Przyszczypkowski, Polityczność (w) edukacji(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013) Polak, Beata Anna (oprac.)Item Poczucie dobrostanu i optymizmu życiowego kadry kierowniczej placówek oświatowych(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013) Cieślińska, JustynaThe expectations of modern educational institutions led to changes in the nature of the school headmaster’s work. The contemporary headmaster is a versatile manager, who has an interdisciplinary knowledge and diverse competences. What has changed, also at an economic level, is the perception of school leadership, where traditionally the headmaster’s primary role used to be planning, enforcement and control. Nowadays, the pro-social perspective has become the main value. A sense of well-being and optimism in life are inseparable elements associated with each person’s life, even though they assume different values depending on the circumstances and psychological predisposition. A high sense of well-being has a positive impact on professional work, relationships with others, and overall health. Well-being is clearly related to optimism, which is an important personal resource directly affecting health, well-being and success in life. Although many years have elapsed since the 1970s, when many countries fi rst began to speak about the idea of integration and inclusion of people with disabilities and those with special needs into social life, there are still problematic situations hindering or even preventing the implementation of the idea of inclusive education (the social aspect is one of the most diffi cult to implement). As researchers note (e.g. Pijl, Meijer, Brzezińska, and Ainscow), there are still many issues that require assistance here. We presume that the effi cacy, safety, and social perception of e-learning largely depend on its users, i.e. on students and teachers. The greater the willingness and competence of learners and educators to responsibly and creatively apply this method in the education process, the greater the chances of maximizing profi ts and minimizing risks connected with the use of distance learning at different levels of education. We narrow down the issue of willingness to the sphere of self-regulation, an indispensable factor in the process of becoming a conscious learner who is committed to and responsible for his or her own education according to the concept of Lifelong Learning. Availing ourselves of Julius Kuhl’s theory of action control (1987) we demonstrate how certain intrinsic predispositions of students and teachers, related to the implementation of their intentions, may determine a successful application of e-learning methods and, in consequence, foster the process of lifelong learning and support the ability to adapt to ever-changing external conditions.Item Anthropological perspectives on democratic citizenship education and globalization(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013) Cervinkova, HanaThe author draws on recent North American scholarship in the anthropology of education to show emerging trends in research on school-based democratic citizenship education.
