Item “Calentando los huesos de las tumbas”. El cuerpo post-orgiástico y el ocaso del mundo mediterráneo en “Makbara” de Juan Goytisolo(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Ewa, ŁukaszykThe key issue of the analysis, concentrated on the dystopia by Juan Goytisolo, Makbara, is the condition of human sexual body which, in terms proposed by Baudrillard, can be qualified as post-orgiastic. While an asexual, aseptic social system is created in the modern, civilized Europe, Morocco seems to be the last refuge not only for the marginalized sexuality, but also for the romantic dreams about marriage. Nonetheless, the Moroccan promise of authentic eroticism acquires a necrophilic flavour of “love at the cemetery”. In the conclusion, Goytisolo is shown as the advocate of a dying, spectral culture, victim of unceasing, manifold exploitation and unable to counterbalance the European symbolic and economic predominance in the Mediterranean.Item Ciudad y texto: leyendo a Montserrat Roig en compañía de Cristina de Pizán(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Łuczak, BarbaraIn the article we study two visions of the city. A “classical” and allegorical one is included in Christine de Pizan’s well-known oeuvre, Le Livre de la Cité des Dames (1404/1405). We compare it to a biographically conditioned construction from the essays "Digues que m’estimes encara que sigui mentida" (1991) by the Catalan writer Montserrat Roig. The key factor in our analysis is the chronotope structure and the relationship between the image of the city and the writing act. We note a number of similarities between the two visions, some of them stemming from the identity and the social and cultural situation of the feminine subject, but also point out some differences, as those determined by the historical context of both texts and their literary genres.Item Diálogos metaficcionales e intermediales (II) entre Agustín Fernández Mallo y Enrique Vila-Matas(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Antonio J., Gil GonzálezThe essay, dedicated to Darío Villanueva, one of the most important Spanish specialists in literary theory and comparative literature of the 20th century, explores in the first part his contribution to the research on metaliterature and metafiction in the Spanish contemporary novel of the decades of 1980-1990. His works establish the relationships of these concepts with postmodernity theories and with umberto Eco’s thesis in Il nome della rosa, Postille and other relevant essays of the Italian author. In the second part of the text, the aim is to apply these concepts of literary self-consciousness and reflexivity in the novel as a story-telling device in the work of one of the most relevant Spanish young writers of the 21st Century, Agustín Fernandez Mallo’s Nocilla Lab. In this sense, we will focus the ending sequence, written (and designed) in form of a comic book or graphic novel, in which the young author puts himself beside the more recognized Enrique Vila-Matas, as an allegoric and fictional reflection of Pierre Bourdieu’s theories about the literary field.Item El nazismo a la luz de las novelas hispanoamericanas actuales(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Nina, PlutaThe exchange of ideas and cultural influences between postcolonial countries of both Americas and the mother countries, has never been limited to one-sided imitation of European patterns. Since the 21th century or even since the colonial period, European theories rooted locally giving original fruits (i.e. magical realism, the Latin American version of world’s primitivisme from the first half of the 20th century). Within the broadly defined transatlantic studies, the particular aim of this paper is to explore motives related to fascism and nazism present in the modern Spanish American prose (Roberto Bolaño, Ignacio Padilla, Jorge Volpi). Firstly, I draw the cultural context in which racist and esoteric ideas of renewing the world infiltrated to Latin America. In the second part I analyse ways to adapt fascist plots in modern novels. Among them the predominating tendencies are to parody the totalitarian ideas or to see them as an incarnation of the intangible evil.Item “Els entra-i-surts del poeta”. Joan Brossa entre la vanguardia y el postmodernismo(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Macin, KurekThe poetry of Joan Brossa (1919-1998), because of its complexity and size, testifies the adventures that has lived the Western literature in the second half of the twentieth century: from the depletion of traditional avant-gardes, going through the movements of neo- or transavantgarde, up to the manifestos of the “literature of exhaustion” or postmodern. The present study aims to discuss the collection of seven volumes of poetry of Joan Brossa, written between 1969 and 1975, and published between 1983 and 1989 under the general title "Els entra-i-surts del poeta", which we consider as one of the most consistent editorial and lyrical author’s projects. We put emphasis on the issue of continuation / break up between the modernist concepts of language and the postmodern plurality, treatment of reality as text or writing, free play of imagination: all this not as a picture of disintegrated world but as positive refl ection of a polymorphic reality.Item “Esa historia no puede contarse”. La dificultad de representar el pasado en dos novelas de Javier Cercas(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Magda, PotokIn two novels based on the subject of war: Soldados de Salamina (“Soldiers of Salamis”) (2001) and Velocidad de la luz (“the Speed of Light”) (2005), Javier Cercas raises the problem of recuperation of a traumatic past through literary discourse. The questions which these novels discuss and which we want to examine here concern complex relations between fiction and reality, history and memory (individual and collective), guilt and responsibility. In order to confront the historical reality from the contemporary perspective, from postmemory, Javier Cercas proposes a narrative with a clear metafictional dimension creating interferences in distinct narrative levels.Item Hibridismo cultural y literatura en el contexto de una “poética de la relación”(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Amán, Rosales RodríguezAdopting as main conceptual framework the proposals of the important thinker and poet from Martinica, Édouard Glissant (1928-2011), about a “poetics of relation”, the article considers the way in which a significant part of the contemporary Spanish speaking literary creation — precisely in virtue of its hybrid or mixed cultural nature — is a good example of the fertility of Glissant’s “poetics of relation” — in which other key concepts of Glissant’s theoretical point of view, like the “archipelagic thought” and the “Whole-World”, are included. Thus, the convergence between certain theoretical perspectives rooted in the francophone Caribbean context and similar intuitions literary developed in the Hispanic American region is highlighted.Item Las corrientes de investigación en teoría de lo fantástico presentes en el hispanismo: estado de la cuestión(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Alfons, GregoriTzvetan Todorov typified the literary fantastic as an autonomous gender in 1970, separating it from marvelous texts and other bordering modes that contained unreal or supernatural elements. In the Latin-American Hispanic studies his model and several other views about fantastic literature encouraged an advancing body of important theorizing, more or less critical with his definition of the gender, finding or not correlations with French or Anglo-Saxon alternative approaches to Todorov’s taxonomist view. In Spain a consistent incorporation to the debate occurred much later thanks to Catalan researcher David Roas. In the present article it is presented a brief state of the investigation about the literary fantastic through the last 20 years in Hispanic studies, when the first reactions to structuralist visions of the subject were enriched by sociocritical, historic, psychologist and philological contributions. two particular, solid but conflicting approaches are analyzed as the opposed poles of a quite wide spectrum of different understandings and ways of doing literary fantastic: on one hand, Mexican scholar Ana María Morales philologist and intratextual-based view, and, on the other hand, Roas psychologist and actual-reader-response-based position. This accurately examined presentation shows the complex variety and the enormous interest of Hispanic studies theorizing about fantasy worlds.Item Reseña de Antonio J. In order to achieve our goal, we will apply the sociocritical theory regarding transition as well as love related theoretical patterns coined in sociology and psychology. The following questions shall be taken into consideration: which love and identity concepts are being depicted in the novels?, how do the love and identity discourses interact among themselves? Which types of discourse and which cultural models seem to be dominant in Tusquets’ narrative? and to what extent could the analyzed texts be seen as the inscription of an unaccomplished transition?Item Viaje maldito en “La universidad desconocida”, de Roberto Bolaño(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013-06-30) Leila, Gómez; Ángel, TuninettiThis paper focuses on the seldom studied poetry of Roberto Bolaño, using "La Universidad Desconocida", the exhaustive compilation published posthumously in 2007. Although Bolaño received wide recognition and many awards for his novels, he defined himself as a poet. In his poetry, we find the same topics and tendencies that he developed in the characters and plots of his narratives. A prime example is "Los detectives salvajes", a novel about a group of young rebel poets in the Mexico of the seventies. Bolaño’s poet characters, as well as his travels, exiles and criticisms of the literary establishment, take on a new light when compared alongside his poetry. this article explores the modes of poetic production as understood by Bolaño, as a way of life outside universities, the literary canon, and any other institutional networks. Instead, his poetic production is marked by the figure of Arthur Rimbaud as the archetype of the cursed poet.
