Item 3. Od redakcji(Adam Mickiewicz University Press, 2011) Schab, Sylwia; Skrzypek, Dominika; Zborowski, PiotrItem A comparative study of participles, converbs and absolute constructions in Hindi and Medieval Rajasthani(2017-05-13) Tokaj, Joanna; Stroński, Krzysztof; De Clercq, EvaThe PRO coindexation of converbs and participles in South Asian Languages along with Subject Identity Constraint (Subject Control) violation has been studied by Subbarao (2012) and Murthy (1994). I present the analysis of Medieval Rajasthani data focusing on two construction types – constructions consisting of converbs and participles. I compare my findings on Rajasthani with previous analyses of the Hindi language. I demonstrate that PRO coindexation in Medieval Rajasthani is more strict than in Hindi. Participles are coindexed with a subject or a direct object of the main clause while converbs are most often subject-oriented. Subject Identity Constraint (Subject Control) violation in Medieval Rajasthani (MR) occurs in constructions consisting of participles and converbs. Subject Identity Constraint may be violated in MR in sentences denoting cause and effect and time relation.Item A conceptual approach towards the use of prepositional phrases in Norwegian – the case of "i" and "på".(Katedra Skandynawistyki UAM, 2010) Szymańska, OliwiaThe paper gives an insight into how Polish learners of Norwegian distribute locative prepositions i and på (in and on) in the most basic spatial contexts. The project is set within SLA studies with cognitive theories and conceptual transfer theory as a key-stone. The data which has been analysed is elicited from four main sources. The two most vital ones are based on ASK-corpus (AndreSpråksKorpus) with the total of 800 informants, and a fill-in-the-gaps survey with 90 participants. The overall aim of the project was to discover patterns native speakers of Norwegian use for distributing i and på. Based on this knowledge, I pinpointed potential mistake domains which could motivate conceptual forward transfer for the Polish learners. Thereafter, Polish informants' performance in L2 was analysed with respect to transfer. I propose four potential transfer domains, i.e. different conceptualization of some objects and places, marking abstract and concrete contexts, marking of dynamic situations and lexicon shortages combined with language diversity of Norwegian, which should be taken into consideration when acquiring Norwegian.Item A Polish-German story told in English? The Zookeeper’s Wife in the thicket of AVT. On language choices in movies(2020) Badstubner-Kizik, CamillaItem A Runic Prayer(Katedra Skandynawistyki UAM, 2011) Skrzypek, DominikaContrary to modern view of the runes as symbols and bearers of pagan traditions, the mediaeval runic inscriptions found in Scandinavia bear witness of making use of the indigenous alphabet to serve the new religion, Christianity. In this paper a number of inscriptions are analyzed with respect to the prayer formula that typically is a part of a text commemorating the dead. Different runic masters are found to have been more or less theologically educated in the tenets of the new religion. The prayer formulas show a changing society, reorienting from the pagan traditions towards the christian ones. Item Äldre and Yngre Västgötalagen – some linguistic evidence(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2009) Skrzypek, DominikaThe article studies two of the oldest Swedish texts, the legal codices from the province of Västergötland, 'Äldre Västgötalagen' (ÄVL), dated at 1225 and 'Yngre Västgötalagen' (YVL), dated at ca 1280. The younger of the texts is a continuation of the older one and includes several additions. The texts are compared with particular respect to the nominal categories – the developing definiteness and the declining case. In particular, the definite forms are studied in much detail. The results confirm an earlier hypothesis that the younger text is based on a copy of the older one different from the one in our possession today. Also, it substantiates the claim that this missing original was more archaic than the one surviving today.Item Analiza problemów tłumaczeniowych przekładu konstytucji Grecji na język polski(INSTITUTE OF LINGUISTICS – ADAM MICKIEWICZ UNIVERSITY, 2009) Ciesielczyk, Natalia; Gortych, KarolinaThe subject of this article is the analysis of problems in the translation of the Greek Constitution into Polish which was published by the Publishing House of the Polish Parliament(Wydawnictwo Sejmowe) in 2005. This text was not translated directly from Greek but from its French and English versions. I attempt to prove that this is the main reason why it contains so many incorrect translations, presenting a selection of classified mistakes found in the Polish text and comparing them with analogical parts of the Greek original text as well as of its French and English versions. I give also some suggestions of correct Polish equivalents for a number of Greek legal terms used in the text of the Greek Constitution.Item ANDREA HESSE: Zur Grammatikalisierung der Pseudokoordination im Norwegischen und in den anderen skandinavischen Sprachen (REVIEW)(Katedra Skandynawistyki UAM, 2010) Horbowicz, Paulina; Sobkowiak, MikołajItem ”Att befrias fran varje horisontlinje”. Birgitta Lillpers poetiska landskap(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2003) Niewiarowska-Rasmussen, EwaThe paper constitutes an analysis of the poetry of Birgitta Lillpers in the context of the postmodern break-up of traditional definitions of literary genres. The characteristic features of the Swedish poet's work are ambiguity, fragmentation, and a diffuse persona of the speaker. Lillpers' poetry is rich in lexical, semantic and syntactic experimentation.Item Attitudes of Norwegians towards the growing influence of English(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2009) Awedyk, WitosławThis paper shortly outlines the present status of English in Norway, principally in relation to the growing presence of English lexical borrowings in Norwegian. Some attention will also be devoted to the views held by Norwegian linguists towards the potential threat that the English language represents, particularly in domains where it is likely to supersede the Norwegian language.Item Auf der Suche nach einer grammatischen Erklärung des Code-Switching: empirische Überprüfung ausgewählter syntaktischer Beschränkungen und der Triggering-Hypothese(UMCS, 2016) Długosz, KamilCode-switching appears among multilingual speakers and means switching fluently from one language to another. Since the 70s some research have been carried out on code-switching from the syntactic point of view. Its main purpose is to determine in which parts of a sentence code-switching cannot appear. The aim of the present study is to verify empirically the selected grammatical constraints on code-switching as well the Triggering-Hypothesis (Clyne 1967) on the basis of an interview transcript with a famous neurobiologist Eric Kandel.Item Autokontrola w procesie kształtowania się strategii komunikacyjnych(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2002) Surdyk, Augustyn; Glinka, MarianKsiążka stanowi plon 2-letniego projektu badawczego zrealizowanego na Wydziale Neofilologii UAM przez zespół złożony z psychologa i filologów aż czterech specjalności językowych. Prezentuje zagadnienia ogólne (m.in. specyfilę komunikacji ustnej, kształtowanie postaw proautonomicznych i osobistej kompetencji komunikacyjnej) oraz sprawozdania z badań (dotyczące m.in. kształtowania samooceny, wrażliwości językowej, umiejętności argumentacyjnych i postawy podmiotowej).Item Autonomizująca funkcja techniki gier fabularnych(Centralny Ośrodek Doskonalenia Nauczycieli, 2008) Surdyk, AugustynItem Baba jak Szwed, czyli o ksenofobii we frazeologii(Adam Mickiewicz University Press, 2011) Skommer, GrzegorzItem Badanie kultury popularnej w zakresie nowych mediów w kraju i na świecie na przykładzie organizacji ludologicznych(2014) Surdyk, AugustynThe aim of the article is to present similarities and differences in the approaches to the field of games research in Poland and abroad, on the basis of the analysis of the achievements and activities of two representative academic ludological associations, namely: Polskie Towarzystwo Badania Gier [Games Research Association of Poland] and Digital Games Research Association. The achievements of the societies are comparable because of the similar period of their activity, a number of conferences organized and a number of publications issued. The subject of the analysis is the declared scope of research of both associations, the topics of papers read during international academic conferences organized by them and the topics of articles in their publications. For the purposes of the analysis two crucial categories concerning games of all types have been introduced to enable further study of the selected texts: the distinction between digital and non-digital games, the former ones referring to electronic games of all types (needing electricity and based on electronics), and the latter ones – to any other kinds of games (in some cases also needing electricity but not electronics). In the analysis four main thematic categories of papers and articles have been established: 1) texts concerning research in the sphere of digital games, new technologies, new media and related phenomena; 2) texts concerning research on non-digital games and related phenomena; 3) texts concerning other aspects of games and ludology including: a) research on non-specific kind of games or, b) quite contrary, concerning different types of games (digital and non-digital) in a particular approach (e.g. educational aspects), c) methodology of games research, d) issues common to all games (e.g. players, gameplay, winning/losing etc.); 4) reviews, reports, forewords, introductory articles and lectures, texts on outstanding scholars etc. The aim of the quantitative analysis is to show the proportions of research devoted to digital games and other issues concerning games research among Polish and foreign ludologists.Item Between a demonstrative and an article. The status of "in" in Old Swedish(Katedra Skandynawistyki UAM, 2010) Skrzypek, DominikaThe definite article in the Modern Nordic languages is a suffix, etymologically related to a demonstrative. The form is not attested in runic inscriptions, the oldest linguistic sources, but first appears in Icelandic sagas as well as in Swedish and Danish legal codices from 13th century onwards. However, in these texts it does not appear with the same regularity as in modern languages. The Old Swedish form constitutes an intermediate form between a demonstrative, from which it is derived, and the article it has become in Modern Swedish. In the oldest texts it appears in contexts where demonstratives can only be found sporadically and its form suggests it no longer is a demonstrative. At the same time it is not yet obligatory. The aim of this paper is to show the grammaticalization of the definite article as a gradual, dynamic process, involving changes in the form and functional scope of the grammaticalizing item and to consider the properties of the Old Swedish form -in, derived from the distal demonstrative hin ‘that’.Item Bevægelsesverber i polsk og dansk og ACCOMPLISHMENT-dilemmaet(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2009) Sobkowiak, MikołajArtiklen tager udgangspunkt i Smiths (1997) påstand om, at verbale konstellationer, som består af et tælleligt nominal, et bevægelsesverbum og et retningsadverbial udtryk af en præpositionsforbindelse er ACCOMPLISHMENT-konstellationer ligesom 'The child built a house' eller 'He wrote a novel' er det. Item Bonde-element i finsk identitet(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2003) Kasierska, KatarzynaThe thesis of the article is that contemporary Finnish national identity has its roots in the nation's agrarism past. The article focuses on several of the most crutcial Finnish identity elements: the Kalevala and folkpoetry in generał as 'national history", naturę love, late migration to cities (1960's and 1970's), hard work as source of esteem, sisu, psychological traits common among Finns, cultural differences between East and West in Finland, gender roles, sauna, and, last but not least, cultural inferiority complex towards 'old European cultures'.
