Abstract
W niniejszej pracy przedmiotem badań jest życie i twórczość austriackich poetek przebywających na emigracji w Nowym Yorku począwszy od roku 1938, aż po lata osiemdziesiąte dwudziestego wieku. W rozprawie przedstawiono twórczość najważniejszych austriackich poetek: Mimi Grossberg, Margarete Kollisch, Gertrude Urzidil i Maria Berl-Lee, które zostały zmuszone do emigracji z powodu swojego żydowskiego pochodzenia i prześladowań nazistowskich. Na podstawie autentycznych świadectw życia, takich jak: biografie, pamiętniki, wywiady, skrypty i wiersze liryczne w pracy zakreślono portrety osobowe poetek. Autor stara się odpowiedź na pytania: jak wyglądało życie przed i po emigracji oraz co ostatecznie determinowało życie i twórczość poetek-emigrantek? W opracowaniu wykazano jak wielki wpływ miała emigracja na ich twórczość oraz życie osobiste. Jednocześnie praca ta dostarcza informacji o niemieckojęzycznym środowisku emigracyjnym w Nowym Jorku.
This work is focusing on the life and work of the Austrian poets living in exile in New York from 1938 until the eighties of the twentieth century. The dissertation presents the most important works of Austrian poets: Mimi Grossberg, Margarete Kollisch, Gertrude Urzidil and Maria Berl-Lee, who have been forced into exile because of Jewish origin and Nazi persecution. The personal portraits of poets is presented on the basis of authentic certificates of life, such as: biographies, diaries, interviews, scripts and poems. The author tries to answer the questions: how looked the life before and after the exile and which ultimately determined the life and work of poets-immigrant? The study demonstrated how great was the impact of emigration on their work and on their personal live. At the same time, this work provides information about the German-speaking environment in exile in New York.
Die vorliegende Arbeit stellt das Leben und Werk österreichischer Dichterinnen im New Yorker Exil zwischen 1938 und dem Anfang der 1980er Jahre dar. Im Mittelpunkt des Interesses stehen die wichtigsten Vertreterinnen der österreichischen Lyrik im New Yorker Exil: Mimi Grossberg, Margarete Kollisch, Gertrude Urzidil und Maria Berl-Lee. Diese Autorinnen haben Österreich wegen ihrer jüdischen Herkunft und damit verbundener Naziverfolgung verlassen. Anhand authentischer Lebenszeugnisse, wie Biographien, Tagebücher und Interviews sowie fiktionaler Texte, wie Erzählungen und lyrische Gedichte wurde ein Porträt der Lyrikerinnen skizziert. Es wurde versucht die Fragen zu beantworten, wie sah das Leben vor und nach der Vertreibung aus und was das Leben der Autorinnen im Exil bestimmt hat. Außerdem wurde in der Dissertation der Einfluss des Exils auf die schreibenden Dichterinnen und ihre Verarbeitung eigenes Emigrationserlebnisses gezeigt. Ihr Leben in der Emigration wurde im Hinblick auf ihre Leistungen untersucht. Gleichzeitig verschafft diese Arbeit den Überblick über das Emigrantenmilieu in der Großstadt New York.
