Zapożyczenie czy projekcja? Krytyka niderlandzka o Tadeuszu Konwickim
Abstract
W niniejszym artykule omówione zostały reakcje na książki Tadeusza Konwickiego w obszarze języka niderlandzkiego. W tym celu analizie poddano recenzje z czasopism ukazujących się w Belgii i Holandii w zasadniczym okresie recepcji, czyli w latach 80-tych. W artykule nie tylko omówione zostały profile czasopism i recenzenci, lecz także podjęto próbę analizy modelowej recenzji książki Konwickiego. Stałymi elementami takiej recenzji okazały się m.in. kontekstualizacja historyczna (uwzględniająca specyfikę dziejów Europy Środkowej), prezentacja sylwetki autora (koncentrująca się na kilku wybranych elementach biografii), porównania z innymi pisarzami oraz ocena danej książki, ewentualnie jakości tłumaczenia i twórczości Konwickiego. Na podstawie tej analizy w drugiej części artykułu przedstawiono interpretację recepcji w Niderlandach, której nicią przewodnią okazuje się fascynacja obsesyjnym sposobem traktowania przez Tadeusza Konwickiego historii. Podstawowa teza brzmi, że o specyficznym sposobie wprowadzenia Konwickiego do systemu literackiego w Niderlandach zadecydowała faza publicznego dyskursu na temat własnej przeszłości. Przebieg recepcji okazuje się więc w tym przypadku efektem projekcji wewnętrznych kwestii kultury niderlandzkiej na twórczość polskiego autora.
Description
The present article discusses the reception of Tadeusz Konwicki’s books in the Dutch linguistic area. For this purpose, an analysis was carried out of the reviews from the magazines appearing in Belgium and the Netherlands at relevant time period when the reception was taking place, i.e. the 1980s. The article mentions not only the profiles of the periodicals and the reviewers, but also makes an attempt at analysing a model-type of a Konwicki book-review. The constant elements of such a model review comprised the following elements: historical contextualisation (including the specificity of Central European history), presentation of the author’s profile (concentrating on selected biographical aspects), comparisons with other writers as well as an evaluation of the book in question, sometimes including the evaluation of the translation and/or Konwicki’s writing in general. On the basis of this analysis the second part of the article offers an interpretation of the reception in the Netherlands, whose main thread has proved to be the fascination with the obsessive treatment of history by Konwicki. The major claim of the article is that what shaped the specific reception of Konwicki within the literary system of the Netherlands was the phase of the public discourse about their own past. The course of the reception turns out in this case to be an effect of the projection on issues internal to the culture of the Netherlands onto the work of the Polish author.
