Relations between the European Union and the People's Republic of China in the twenty-first century
Abstract
W pracy doktorskiej poddano badaniom dwa podmioty prawa międzynarodowego: Unię Europejską oraz Chińską Republikę Ludową. Przedmiotem analizy było ukazanie rozwoju wzajemnych stosunków unijno-chińskich oraz zaprezentowanie ich przyczyn, specyfiki, zakresu, efektów i dalszych perspektyw. Badając rozwój stosunków unijno-chińskich uwzględniono stosunki handlowe, bezpośrednie inwestycje zagraniczne oraz pogłębianie dwustronnych relacji w ramach trzech filarów dialogów wzajemnych (politycznego, gospodarczego i sektorowego oraz „międzyludzkiego”). Jako główną cezurę czasową pracy przyjęto lata 2003-2013, dodatkowo wzbogacone tłem historycznym. Głównym celem rozprawy było przedstawienie stosunków pomiędzy Unią Europejską a Chińską Republiką Ludową w XXI wieku, uwzględniając różne formy kooperacji, które w ostatnich latach zostały silnie pogłębione. Wskazano podstawy zacieśnienia współpracy, dynamiki wymiany handlowej i pobudzania gospodarek obu stron oraz ukazano przyspieszenie rozwoju stosunków dwustronnych i głównych płaszczyzn wzajemnej współpracy. Poza tym, wskazano efekty kooperacji unijno-chińskiej oraz możliwe perspektywy współpracy dla Chin i UE.
In the doctoral thesis two subjects of international law: the European Union and the People’s Republic of China were studied. The object of analysis was to show the development of relations between the EU and China and to present their causes, specifics, scope, impact and future prospects. By studying the development of relations between the EU and China, the trade relations, foreign direct investment and deepening bilateral relations in the context of the three pillars of mutual dialogues (political, economic and sectoral, as well as „people-to-people”) were included. As a major dividing line of work the years 2003-2013 were adopted, additionally enriched by the historical background. The main purpose of the dissertation was to present the relations between the European Union and the People’s Republic of China in the twenty-first century, taking into account the various forms of cooperation, which in recent years has been strongly deepened. The basis for closer cooperation, the dynamics of trade and boosting the economies of both sides were indicated. Furthermore, there were also shown the acceleration of the development of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation of the main planes. In addition, the results of the EU-China cooperation and possible perspectives of cooperation for China and the EU were indicated.
