Abstract
Publiczne egzekucje od zawsze przyciągały widzów, wystarczy wspomnieć tłumy gawiedzi otaczające szafoty w średniowieczu lub tysiące widzów obserwujących arystokratów francuskich wiezionych na Plac Rewolucji. Również w Polsce publiczne kaźnie cieszyły się sporym zainteresowaniem. Ostatnia publiczna kaźń w Polsce miała miejsce 21 lipca 1946 r. w Poznaniu, kiedy to stracono Arthura Greisera. Na stokach cytadeli poznańskiej zgromadził się około 100 tysięczny tłum który obserwował wykonanie wyroku. Dla lepszego poznania przyczyn takiego zainteresowania niezbędne jest zbadanie w jaki sposób prasa lokalna relacjonowała przebieg procesu, w którym wnioskowano o karę główną, egzekucję oraz jakie były reakcje po wykonaniu wyroku. Skupić należy się na prasie, gdyż w zniszczonej wojną Wielkopolsce była ona w owym czasie głównym medium.
Public executions have always attracted spectators. Just to mention the crowds surrounding the gallows in the Middle Ages or even thousands of spectators watching the aristocrats of the French Revolution Square incarcerated. Also in Poland, public executions attracted considerable attention. Last public execution took place in Poland on 21 July 1946 in Poznan, when Arthur Greiser was executed. On the slopes of Poznan citadel about 100 thousand crowd witnessed the execution of sentence. For a better understanding of the causes of such interest, it is necessary to examine how a local newspaper reported the process in which death was the requested, execution, and what were the reactions after the sentence. Focus should be on the press because it was at that time the main source of information.
