E-learning as a form of supporting the process of ICT education
Abstract
We współczesnym świecie dobra edukacja jest ważnym elementem jego prawidłowego rozwoju. Szybko rozwijająca się technologia XXI wieku sprawia, że każdy nauczyciel powinien sukcesywnie włączać ją w codzienny tryb swoich zajęć. Szkoły, chcąc być atrakcyjnymi i ciekawymi dla ucznia, będą musiały dostosować swoje formy i metody pracy z uczniem, przez uwzględnienie nowych technologii. W przedstawionej przeze mnie koncepcji pracy doktorskiej omówiłem planowany cykl badań i rozważań, będący próbą odpowiedzi na pytanie jakie są warunki i możliwości wspomagania procesu nauczania na drodze zastosowania technologii informacyjnych w postaci e-learningu w odniesieniu do procesu kształcenia w szkole gimnazjalnej. Moje zainteresowania i obserwacje w tym zakresie wskazują na miejsce tego rodzaju pracy jako formy wspomagania nauczania tradycyjnego. Nowoczesne technologie pozwalają uczniom m.in. na: szybki dostęp do bogatych źródeł informacji, wizualizacji materiału nauczania, dyskusję niezależnie od czasu i miejsca pobytu, rozwoju własnych umiejętności dotyczących wyszukiwania i selekcji informacji, ćwiczenia wyobraźni i pamięci, udział w różnego rodzaju grach dydaktycznych itp. W opracowanej przeze mnie koncepcji pracy doktorskiej wspomniane działania rozpatrzone zostały w kategorii celów poznawczych i praktycznych. Celami poznawczymi pracy było wzbogacenie wiedzy teoretycznej dotyczącej kształcenia gimnazjalnego wspomaganego użyciem technologii informacyjnych, określenie - na drodze eksperymentu pedagogicznego - potrzeby istnienia, przydatności oraz wynikających korzyści ze wspomagania nauczania przy użyciu portalu e-learningowego oraz porównanie tej metody z tradycyjnymi metodami nauczania. Celem praktycznym było opracowanie modelowych materiałów dla uczniów oraz metodycznych wskazań dla innych nauczycieli powodujących podniesienie poziomu umiejętności uczniów w zakresie wyszukiwania i selekcji informacji oraz posługiwania się narzędziami technologii informacyjnej oraz zastosowanie jej w rozwiązywaniu zadań obejmujących różne dziedziny życia codziennego.
In the concept of my doctoral thesis I have presented the cycle of research in which I have discussed the conditions and possibilities of supporting teaching processes by the use of e-learning with the secondary school students. My interests and observations in this field have shown the popularity of this method resulting mainly from the popularity of the Internet itself among young learners. Although it cannot replace traditional teaching, using it allows fast access to different sources of information, visualization of the teaching materials, independent discussion and hence developing own skills of searching and selecting information, exercising memory and imagination and participating in various educational games and contests. The main characteristics of the information society is the ability of self-education in which modern technologies are used for selecting and processing data. That is why there is a need to supplement teaching processes with advanced tools of information technology, such as Internet and its subcomponents. The main problem of my study was to find out whether incorporating of e-learning as a supporting form into the problem-solving teaching programme of information technology would build up students' comprehension and skills in this school subject. In the fifth chapter 'Organization and the course of study' I have described the organization and the course of my research as well as methods and techniques I have used. In the preliminary stage of my study I have analysed students homeworks in which the Internet and e-learning platform Moodle had to be employed. At this stage a survey has been conducted in order to learn students' opinions on e-learning as a supporting form of education. The results and conclusions of the preliminary stage of research have been used as hypotheses for the core/ main stage of research. The main study focused on measuring the effects of Internet-supported education and on the possibilities of introducing e-learning to schools as a supporting teaching technique or method. In the following chapters I have included and described the course of my actions relating to the content of my doctoral thesis, for example, the timetable of research, etc.
