Tardigrades, are small extremophilic invertebrates, especially resistant to various unfavorable environmental conditions. Nevertheless, their resistance to low and high temperatures, radiation, and space vacuum has always been tested under the influence of a geomagnetic field. So far, no studies have been conducted on the influence of this type of physical force on active and anhydrobiotic tardigrades. Therefore, the main goal of my work was to determine the mortality rate of tardigrades entering and leaving the state of cryptobiosis (more precisely anhydrobiosis), in the isolation of the experimental system from the geomagnetic field. All the collected data and the obtained results indicated a completely new direction of geomagnetobiological research focused on the impact of changes in the geomagnetic field on extremophilic organisms, at the same time broadening the knowledge on the resistance of tardigrades to extreme environmental conditions, especially in the context of space research.</mods:abstract>
