Analizowałam wzajemne wyobrażenia o sobie Masajów i białych kobiet w kontekście postkolonialnie ukształtowanych kategorii rasy, klasy i gender, strategie względem miejsca zamieszkania i opieki zdrowotnej, strategie ekonomiczne par, postrzeganie rzeczonych związków w społecznościach pochodzenia masajskich mężczyzn i białych kobiet, definiowanie i odgrywanie męskości i kobiecości, a także negocjowanie ról męża i żony oraz wychowywanie dzieci.

The dissertation focuses on long-term relationships between Maasai men from Tanzania and white women from the Global North, resulting in migration of one of the partners. Many of these relationships arose through tourist encounters. The author analyzed mutual imaginations of Maasai men and white women within the context of postcolonial shaped categories of race, class, and gender; strategies regarding choices of place of residence and healthcare; economic strategies of couples; perceptions of these relationships within the communities of origin of the Maasai men and white women; definitions and performances of masculinity and femininity; and negotiation of the roles of husband and wife and raising children. Key research participants were couples who had chosen to settle in Tanzania, but the study also explored the lives of couples residing in Europe. In Zanzibar, the author investigated the origins of relationships between white women and Maasai men - this part of the research was conducted primarily with individuals who had been in relationships for less than two years, often a long distance relationships basis (the women regularly flew to Tanzania to spend time with their partners). Secondary sources analysis was carried out to highlight the ways in which perceptions about the Maasai (especially Maasai men) were shaped.</mods:abstract>
