Na polskim rynku wydawniczym, podobnie jak i w innych krajach europejskich, pojawia się coraz więcej dzieł cenionych na świecie przedstawicieli gatunku. Początki zjawiska, o którym mowa, wiążą się ze wzrostem popularności twórców powieści kryminalnych takich jak na przykład Henning Mankell, Stieg Larsson, Åsa Larsson, Camilla Läckberg, Liza Marklund i Håkan Nesser ze Szwecji, Jo Nesbø i Karin Fossum z Norwegii, czy też przedstawiciele gatunku na gruncie fińskim Matti Yrjänä Joensuu, Leena Lehtolainen i Kjell Westö. Za cel prezentowanej pracy stawiam przyjrzenie się oraz przeanalizowanie wybranych motywów pojawiających się w powieściach fińskich autorów fikcji kryminalnej, które mogą być inspirowane obserwacjami, jakich autorzy dokonują w reprezentowanym przez siebie społeczeństwie. Problemy społeczne poruszane na kartach powiesci Leeny Lehtolainen i Mattiego Yrjäny Joensuu zostały w pracy zanalizowane z jednej strony jako fikcja literacka, z drugiej - przejaw zaangażowania pisarzy w problemy społeczności, w jakiej żyją, próba ostrzeżenia przez negatywnymi skutkami przemian zachodzących we współczesnym świecie.Rapid changes taking place in today’s world have a negative impact on all the values that have traditionally been considered the basis of so called welfare society. First and foremost, it applies to family life and more generally to all other kind of interpersonal relationships. The aim of this study is to analyze those elements of certain novels written by Finnish authors, especially Leena Lehtolainen and Matti Yrjänä Joensuu, that might be particularly important for the readers interested in the recent problems of the Finnish society, as they give the readers an idea of the reality and some real problems of the society, which the writer represents. Therefore, the starting point is that at least some of the events described in the analyzed novels are based on true facts and because of that the writer provides the readers with a great opportunity to explore the problems of a given society. My main aim is to analyze the novels of some most popular Finnish writers of criminal fiction. Leena Lehtolainen and Matti Yrjänä Joensuu, especially the first of them, are Finnish authors whose novels are systematically translated to the Polish language. I have not focused only on those novels, which have so far been translated into Polish.
