Helena Modjeska's relations with the city of Poznań and Greater Poland should be viewed as an important element of the biography of this great Polish actres (1840-1909). These relations should be analysed from multiple standpoints, especially from the professional, private, social and political perspectives. This article attempts to show the unique and intricate network of connections mainly in a context of written accounts that were published in the Polish-language press of nineteenth-century Poznań. The choice of this particular group of source materials is intentional and deliberate. Strangely enough, the authors of hitherto published studies on the local daily newspapers such as "Dziennik Poznański" or "Kurier Poznański", and when they did so, most of these accounts were discussed only superficially.
