Autorka omawia dokumenty UE, które wytyczają kierunki polityki imigracyjnej UE, a także prawo UE odnoszące się do integracji cudzoziemców, które ocenia jako niewystarczające. Autorka zauważa także, że integracja stała się elementem polityki bezpieczeństwa. Ponadto Autorka omawia jeden ze środków integracyjnych − testy językowe. Ich zdanie jest warunkiem wydania zezwolenia na wjazd, pobyt lub naturalizację obywatela państwa trzeciego. Ten rodzaj środka ma się przyczynić do ograniczenia nielegalnej imigracji, przymusowych małżeństw, małżeństw dzieci, handlu ludźmi oraz do poprawienia sytuacji muzułmańskich kobiet. Paradoksalnie, w pewnych sytuacjach środki te mogą jednak naruszać prawa człowieka, a zwłaszcza jego prawo do poszanowania życia rodzinnego i szeroko pojęty zakaz dyskryminacji.The paper concerns the integration of third country nationals in the European Union, which is one of the most complicated aspects of immigration. The author discusses the main documents which indicate the priorities of the EU regarding immigration. She observes that recently the integration policy has become an important element of the EU security policy. Moreover, the author analyses the relevant EU law and assesses the contemporary legal solutions as insufficient. Selected integration measures taken by some member states are also presented in the paper. They include language tests which an immigrant must pass before obtaining a leave to enter or to remain within the territory of a given state or a citizenship document. This type of integration measure is aimed at eliminating illegal immigration, forced marriages and marriages of children, or trafficking in people. It also supports non-discrimination of Muslim women.
