W pracy udowadniam, że rozpatrzenie twórczości Jadwigi Żylińskiej wobec tradycji polskiej powieści, i szerzej, prozy historycznej, modyfikuje dotychczasowe ujęcia gatunku oraz pozwala nanieść znaczące poprawki w utrwalonej od lat 90. XX wieku periodyzacji dziejów polskiej myśli feministycznej. Rozprawa składa się dwóch części. Pierwsza część, zatytułowana „feministyczny projekt pisarstwa Jadwigi Żylińskiej” stanowi próbę kontekstualizacja dorobku pisarki w perspektywie literatury polskiej i światowej. Dla drugiej części rozprawy doktorskiej, poświęconej „analizie i interpretacji pisarstwa historycznego Jadwigi Żylińskiej”, podstawowe znaczenie ma feministyczna refleksja nad herstorią – uwzględnieniem kobiet w opowieści o przeszłości, jako jej bohaterek i narratorek, oraz nad gatunkami, w jakich taka opowieść może się realizować; tu: nad gatunkami, w jakich realizuje ją autorka Złotej włóczni. Analiza i interpretacja poszczególnych utworów Jadwigi Żylińskiej pozwala udowodnić, że właśnie na granicy między ekspresją twórczą (wolnego, nieskrępowanego, pragnącego mówić) podmiotu kobiecego a doświadczeniem bycia kobietą – w rodzinie, społeczeństwie, dyskursie – najczęściej przebiegają newralgiczne, najtrudniejsze miejsca kobiecego tekstu.The aim of the PhD dissertation is a re-reading, a modern interpretation and a new placement of the historical prose of Jadwiga Żylińska on the background of the literary tradi¬tion, from the perspective of the historical consciousness of both: the People’s Republic of Poland (PRP) and the contemporary times. I show that the reconsideration of Jadwiga Żylińska’s work in the context of the history of the Polish novel modifies the previous understanding of the genre and helps to significantly improve the periodization of the Polish feminist thought that has been established since the 1990s. My dissertation is composed of two parts. The first part, titled “The Feminist Project of Jadwiga Żylińska’s Works”, is an attempt at contextualization of the writer’s oeuvre in the Polish and world literature. In the other part of my dissertation, devoted to “The Analysis and Interpretation of the Historical writing of Jadwiga Żylińska”, of primary importance is the feminist consideration of “herstory” – i.e. the inclusion of women in the story about the past, as its heroines and narrators, and the genres which enable the realization of such a story, i.e. here the genres which Żylińska relies on. I am convinced that it is exactly on the border between the creative expression of (free, unhindered, desiring to talk) the female subject and the experience of being a woman – in family, society, and discourse – where the pivotal and most difficult spaces of the female text are to be found. My dissertation will shed a veil off the so far unknown chart of Polish history and literary life in postwar reality.
