On the one hand one is faced here with economic, cultural, social and political needs determined by the present state and developmental tendencies of the society, on the other — the needs an individual (a graduate and his/her family) expects to satisfy. Somewhere between the two groups the needs, aims, possibilities, preferences and expectations of institutions are situated. They are to some extent the reflection and articulation of macrosocial phenomena, yet they also result from the complex internal formal and informal structures of those institutions, from their technical basis, organization, social conditions, the style of management, etc. In view of the research particular importance should be ascribed to two institutions: the workplace and the college. The study, conducted in 1987, was focused on a diagnosis of the state of utilizing the qualifications of graduates of the Agricultural Academy in Poznań (agriculture with agricultural mechanization and zootechnics: classes of 1970, 1974, 1980, 1984). There were 760 questionnaires. The formulation of the diagnosis was accompanied by the compilation of a set of objective and subjective factors stimulating the course of professional careers and the factors responsible for the waste of professional qualifications. The following aspects of a professional career were taken into account: 1) the consistence between the job and the line and specialization of studies; 2) territorial placement of the graduates; 3) types of workplaces employing the graduates; 4) professional stabilization; 5) professional success (types of promotions). The subject of characterization were also: living conditions and the adequacy of studies to the performed job. The graduates opinions were taken into account with respect to the latter issue. The conclusions have partly a character of hypotheses for they were formulated only on the basis of the graduates' accounts research. They will be subject to subsequent verification after the employers' expectations, the needs of the employing institutions and the employers' requirements with respect to the adequacy of studies to particular jobs are taken into account.polinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessWykorzystanie kwalifikacji absolwentów Akademii Rolniczej w PoznaniuUtilizing the qualifications of the Poznań Agricultural Academy graduatesArtykuł
