In the light of the literature devoted to this issue, there has been presented an outline of the concept of ecosystem services and its potential importance for taking into consideration the idea of sustainabledevelopment in the decision-making process. Theoretical deliberations have been presented by showing what is the impact of ordering the sewage economy on the amount of ecosystem services in the rural areas of Wielkopolska region.
