Zakres ten pozwala prześledzić rozwój myślenia politycznego Łotyszy oraz przedstawić polityczne wizje intelektualistów łotewskich w tym okresie: od prekursorów myśli narodowej po przedstawicieli nurtu konserwatywnego, liberalnego oraz socjaldemokratycznego. Analizując zachodzące zmiany na przestrzeni około pięćdziesięciu lat, autorka przedstawia w jaki sposób naród etniczny przekształcił się w naród polityczny i jaką rolę w tym procesie odgrywała świadomość narodowa Łotyszy.The aim of the theses is to present the national building process in Latvian society in Livland and Kurland versus the multidimensional dominance of Baltic Germans and Russians in 1861-1905 (culture, public authority, religion, education and other consequences). This perspective allows to present the development of Latvian political thought and the political ideas of Latvian intellectuals in this period: from the precursors of national thought to conservative, liberal and social-democratic representatives.
