The non-ecological cataclysm of total semantic annihilation: can humanity survive without socially verifiable language?

Esej podejmuje refleksję nad możliwością wystąpienia „całkowitej semantycznej anihilacji”, rozumianej jako proces stopniowego zaniku społecznie weryfikowalnego znaczenia języka. Autor analizuje współczesne praktyki komunikacyjne oparte na manipulacji, kłamstwie i deformacji znaczeń, wskazując, że mogą one prowadzić do „zatruwania języka” (ang. „language venomization”). W konsekwencji język przestałby pełnić swoją podstawową funkcję wiarygodnego narzędzia komunikacji międzyludzkiej. Tekst ukazuje potencjalne skutki tego procesu, takie jak osłabienie związku między nazwą a obiektem, utrata symbolicznej funkcji słowa, kryzys tożsamości komunikacyjnej, wzrost nieufności społecznej oraz zanikanie empatii. Autor podkreśla, że przetrwanie ludzkiej wspólnoty zależy od utrzymania stabilnej relacji między słowem a rzeczywistością oraz od ochrony semantycznej integralności języka.

The essay reflects on the possibility of a “total semantic annihilation,” understood as the gradual disappearance of socially verifiable meaning in language. The author examines contemporary communicative practices based on manipulation, lying, and semantic distortion, arguing that they may lead to a process of “language venomization”. As a result, language would cease to function as a reliable tool of human communication. The text outlines the possible consequences of this phenomenon, including the weakening of the relationship between object and name, the loss of the symbolic power of words, the erosion of communicative identity, the growth of social distrust, and the decline of empathy. The author concludes that the survival of human society depends on preserving a stable connection between language and reality, as well as safeguarding the semantic integrity of language.
