Item Cechy dermatoglificzne człowieka. Przegląd koncepcji i metod badań(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1992) Budnik, AlicjaThe review was made from the point of view of genetic transmission, source of variability, morphogenesis and functional significance of these traits in men. While pointing the reasons of hitherto failures in solving the primary problems, the difficulties in defining the traits were stressed. The critical review on some dermatoglyphic opinions and new trends of researches in Poland and in the world were presented.Item Kaszubi polscy a wybrane populacje europejskie - genetyczne podobieństwa i różnice(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1996) Budnik, AlicjaPOLISH KASHUBIANS AND CHOSEN EUROPEAN POPULATIONS - GENETIC SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES. On the basis of allele frequencies of two blood group systems: ABO and Rh (locus D), the mutual genetic similarities and differences between the Kashubians from Hel Peninsula and Pomerania and the rest of population from Poland and inhabitants of the Baltic countries have been evaluated. Genetic analysis was accompanied by demographic measures delining the degree of isolation of the two Kashubian groups and other Poles living contemporarily, and in the 2nd half of the 19'1' century.Item Mortality in the populations of Danzig and the District of Danzig (Regierungsbezirk Danzig) in the second half of the nineteenth century(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1997) Budnik, Alicja; Liczbińska, GrażynaThe study concerning the populations of: the city of Danzig, Kartuzy County and the whole District of Danzig (Regierungsbezirk Danzig) has been based on demographic data from German yearbooks published in the second half of the nineteenth century and at the beginning of the twentieth century. The research has covered the period between 1855 and 1879 for the city of Danzig and between 1860 and 1869 for the District of Danzig. For selected years some demographic measures, such as: death rates, infant death rates, natural increase, and population dynamics rates have been estimated. At the same time, seasonal fluctuations in mortality within a year and the most important cultural and biological causes for death have been disscussed. Moreover, life tables for the whole District of Danzig have been built. (The authors employed two methods: firstly - Hailey’s proposal, assuming a t first a stationary type of population and then a model stable in regard to formerly calculated natural increase; secondly - a technique based on probability of death). Finally, the opportunity for natural selection through differential mortality has been estimated (Crow index Im, potential gross reproduction rate Rpot, biological state index lbs,). The results o f the own research have been compared to attainable data concerning other regions o f Poland under partition.Item Nutritional habits and the structure of consumption in the Kashubian population of the town of Jastarnia (the Hel Peninsula)(Polskie Towarzystwo Antropologiczne, 1998) Budnik, AlicjaThe first part of the present study is a description of the Kashubian population inhabiting the Hel Peninsula. Further, the author follows the changes of the dietary pattern and the nutritional habits of this population over a span of more than one hundred years. The past nutritional habits (prevailing in the 18th century and in the first half o f the 20th‘century) were reproduced on the basis of ethnographic source materials. The present day diet was determined on the basis of the data obtained by way of weekly family questionnaires and daily individual questionnaires distributed in September, June and November in Jastarnia among Kashubian families and school children. The results were then compared with the literature data and discussed.
