The author locates his reasoning in reference to the idea of scientific development and the concept of paradigmatic change of Thomas Kuhn, especially revealing the notion of hermeneutic disparity, which metaphorically means the lack of a common language of researchers originating from different (opposite) paradigms. Applying hermeneutic disparity in his discussion, the author seeks answers to the questions formulated either to the essence and quality of pedagogy as a science or to the ways it is practiced and conditioned by a researcher’s paradigmatic and methodological orientation.Item Teoretyczne inspiracje pedagogiki specjalnej – pedagogika emancypacyjna(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2013) Krause, AmadeuszStarting from the considerations and analyses of emancipatory educators one realizes that current special education ought to become emancipatory. The liberation of a persona with a disability should proceed simultaneously with the humanization of social and cultural life. The problem of special education needs to cope with what seems of double nature: what is at stake is on the one hand a simplifi ed and narrowly understood emancipation of the disabled, and on the other hand overcoming emancipatory barriers which are typical of our culture and social environment. Critical pedagogy trends appear to many special educators either as pedagogy of radical criticism or as a separate pedagogical trend. Meanwhile there is some evidence that some problems and analyses of critical pedagogy could be grounded in the area of special education. Mainly these are analyses exposing mechanisms of power over another human being, covert violence, control, domination, and marginalization.
