Judgment on the Generation ‘68. Constructions of von Generationskonflikten in den Texten der 85er-Generation
Abstract
Przedłożona praca doktorska opiera się na analizie ośmiu tekstów, w których autorzy należący do generacji 85 dokonują obrachunku z zachodnioniemieckim pokoleniem 68, czyli z pokoleniem swoich rodziców: „Generation Golf“ i „Generation Golf zwei“ Floriana Illiesa, „Wir Nutellakinder“ Malin Schwerdtfeger, „Rettet die Familie!“ Joachima Bessinga, „Das bleiche Herz der Revolution“ Sophie Dannenberg, „Elternabend“ Adriano Sacka, „So macht Kommunismus Spaß!“ (pol. „Zabawa w komunizm“) Bettiny Röhl oraz „Deutschlandvermessung“ Christiana Schüle. Na część teoretyczną pracy składa się rozdział poświęcony kategorii pokolenia i koncepcjom, w których znajduje ona zastosowanie oraz rozdział traktujący o historii pokoleń 68 i 85. Centralną część dysertacji stanowi analiza tekstów, której celem jest zbadanie kulturowych i narracyjnych konstrukcji konfliktów pokoleń rozgrywających się na płaszczyźnie rodzinnej bądź odnoszących się do problematyki związanej z rodziną, dotyczących polityki i przeszłości a także relacji międzypokoleniowych, które nacechowane są wieloznacznością. Z przeprowadzonych analiz wynika, że generacja 68 jest oceniana przez pokolenie swoich dzieci przeważnie negatywnie oraz że pomimo licznych podobieństw pomiędzy danymi tekstami, poszczególne konstrukcje konfliktów różnią się między sobą. Ponadto konstruowanie konfliktów służy pokoleniu 85 do tworzenia własnej tożsamości.
Submitted dissertation contains analysis of eight texts of the exponents of generation ‘85, in which the authors deal with the West German generation ‘68: Florian Illies’ “Generation Golf” and “Generation Golf zwei”, Malin Schwerdtfeger’s “Wir Nutellakinder”, Joachim Bessing’s “Rettet die Familie!”, Sophie Dannenberg’s “Das bleiche Herz der Revolution”, Adriano Sack’s “Elternabend”, Bettina Röhl’s “So macht Kommunismus Spaß!” and Christian Schüle’s “Deutschlandvermessung”. The theoretical part of the PhD thesis consists of two chapters: While the first is devoted to the term “generation” and to diverse concepts of generation in research, the other one focuses on the history of the generations ‘68 and ‘85. In the analytic part examined are cultural and narrative constructions of generational conflicts that take place in the family resp. refer to the family, such that deal with the politics resp. with the past and finally such that are ambivalent. The text analysis reveals that the generation ‘68 is majorly negatively judged by the generation of their children, that despite of many similarities between the texts they represent diverse conflict constructions and that constructing of generational conflicts plays for the generation ‘85 primarily an identity-establishing role.
