Abstract

The author presents his views on the strategic directions of development of the Polish Academy of Sciences – its mission – delineated in a special document. In the view of the author, the Academy should focus on scientific research which serves to discover the truth. Such scientific research ought to be conducted at the highest level and it should follow the ethical standards. Moreover, the Academy should not evade undertaking didactic tasks. It ought to, above all, concentrate on the doctoral and postdoctoral education.
