Tendencies in consumption of alcoholic beverages in Poland
Abstract
Basing oneself on available statistical sources, the author attempts at describing
a secular trend of consumption of alcoholic beverages in Poland, which has been
recently increasing steadily. That ranks Poland among the countries of a highest
level of alcohol consumption in the world. Evolution of the consumption structure
is also unfavorable. The assessment of a population permanently overdosing alcohol
(over 4 million persons) was made. It makes a pathological threat. The distribution
of consumption in a spatial arrangement in the country (regions) is also presented.
The author makes reservations that quoted tendencies must be treated as approximate
values only calling for further verifying examination.
