| dc.description.abstract | Celem mojej pracy jest przedstawienie relacji między technologią a życiem społecznym. Relację tę analizuję na przykładzie świata sportu. Praca doktorska składa się z dwóch części: teoretycznej i empirycznej. W tej pierwszej ukazuję tło swoich badań - wskazuję społeczny charakter technologii i sportu, a także podkreślam trwałość tego historyczną związku. W części empirycznej skupiam się na obecności technologii w sporcie. Zawartość tych rozdziałów tworzy materiał zebrany podczas badań empirycznych. Został on uzyskany przy użyciu medialnego desk research oraz pogłębionych wywiadów eksperckich. Skupiam się w nich na trzech aspektach: na tym w jaki sposób technologia kształtuje ciało człowieka, w jaki sposób powoduje nierówności społeczne oraz w jaki sposób wpływa na kontrolę społeczną. Główną tezą mojej pracy jest to, że technologia ma bardzo istotny wpływ na życie społeczne, ale jest to wpływ bardziej złożony niż zwykle myślimy. | pl_PL |
| dc.description.abstract | The main goal of my PhD thesis is a presentation of the relation between technology and social life. I explore this multidimensional connection in the world of sport. My doctoral thesis consists of two main parts: theoretical and empirical. In theoretical chapters I set the background of my investigation. Firstly, I analyse the social construction of technology. Secondly, I emphasize what people understand as a sport. Thirdly, I introduce the historical context of the link between technology and sport. In empirical part I explain three dimensions of the socio-technological interaction in sport. The content of these chapters is an effect of the desk research and in-depth interviews with experts. Media analysis allowed to spot the key problems of sport–technology relation. Those issues were afterwards the subject of the discussions with experts during the in-depth interviews. This kind of investigation allowed me to separate three main aspects of technological impact on sport. Firstly, technology is a force which shapes human body. Secondly, technology remains an important reason of social inequities. Thirdly, technology appears to be an significant tool for social control. The most important conclusion of my thesis is that technology has great influence on social world. On the other hand, this impact is more sophisticated that we usually think. | pl_PL |
