Nowa włoska literatura noir: od modernizmu do postmodernizmu?

Abstract

Celem dysertacji jest scharakteryzowanie literatury noir we Włoszech z okresu lat dziewięćdziesiątych XX w. i początku XXI w. oraz próba przypisania jej do szerszego kontekstu kulturowego. Jako, że jedną z cech charakterystycznych współczesnego „czarnego kryminału” są jego niepewne granice, punktem wyjścia do analizy stała się teoria „podobieństwa rodzinnego” Ludwika Wittgensteina, która pozwala na zdefiniowanie kategorii niejasnych, opierając się na pewnej grupie przymiotów, niekoniecznie obligatoryjnych, które dowolnie się ze sobą przeplatają. W dysertacji omówione zostały kolejne cechą charakterystyczne „czarnej powieści” takie jak forma, stereotypowe role bohaterów, tematyka poruszana przy okazji opisywania zbrodni, relacje przestrzenne, wymiar czasowy utworów, szczególny styl i język twórców, a także tzw. „płynny realizm” (G. Magini i V. Santoni w nawiązaniu do Z. Baumana), który łączy w sobie dwie pozornie sprzeczne cechy: tendencję realistyczną i chęć portretowania „postrzeczywistości”, zdominowanej przez środki masowego przekazu. Do głównych założeń pracy należy przypisanie omówionych cech dystynktywnych nowego włoskiego noir do danej epoki, by rozstrzygnąć charakter której z nich wyraża: modernizmu w której się narodził bądź postmodernizmu, w której jest współcześnie uprawiany. Dzisiejsza „czarna powieść” we Włoszech jawi się zatem jako gatunek wyrażający zarówno obecną epokę, w której powstaje, jak i nosi ślady poprzednich prądów literackich, które kolejno wpływały na jej aktualny kształt.

The aim of the present dissertation is to present the Italian noir fiction of the last decade of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. The work attempts to place it in a wider cultural context. The fuzzy boundaries are one of the characteristic features of the contemporary noir fiction. Consequently, the starting point of the present analysis is the philosophical idea of “family resemblance” developed by Ludwig Wittgenstein. The concept enables one to more accurately capture the vague categories on the basis of certain characteristics that are not necessarily obligatory, but rather coalesce freely. Furthermore, the dissertation covers the successive characteristics of the new noir fiction in Italy, such as the form, the stereotypical roles of its characters, the themes that appear when the crime is being depicted, the spatial and temporal dimensions of the works, the particular style and language of the writers, and, finally, the so called “liquid realism” (G. Magini and V. Santoni in reference to Z. Bauman). The “liquid realism” combines two apparently contradictory qualities: the realistic tendency and the desire to portray the “postreality” dominated by the mass media. Hence, the dissertation builds on such assumptions as the idea of ascertaining the distinctive features of the new Italian noir so as to determine the spirit of the age it expresses: modernism, where it was born, or postmodernism, where it is developed. The contemporary Italian noir fiction appears to reflect the tendencies the present age, in which it originates, as well as the former literary currents that shape its today’s form.
