The article aims to remind prof. dr hab. Wojciech Kóćka as a teacher and director of the Department
of Archaeology of Poland and Europe at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The author gets
back to major events in his life and presents Kóćka’ research achievements, in particular the book ‘Ethnogenesis
of the European population’. The article concludes by postulating a reinterpretation of the theses
from the book and getting back to ethnogenethic studies based upon cranial analysis.
