Item Dostosowanie oferty terapii zajęciowej do potrzeb osób starszych a ich samopoczucie(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2014) Sienkiewicz-Wilowska, Julia AnastazjaThe article presents the results of studies on the influence of matching occupational therapy offer to the needs of elderly people and the impact of this matching on their well-being. The study involved 60 people attending occupational therapy in Adult Day Care Centers in Poznan. The research was conducted with the use of the author’s Evaluation of Well-being Questionnaire, which includes 6 scales that investigate functioning in the following spheres: social, emotional, cognitive, physical, sense of personal development, and self-acceptance. Reports included standardized interviews with occupational therapists. Interviews respecting occupational therapy purposes and methods applied in this kind of elicitation. The results of this study highlight three cluster centers – cluster A (n = 5): people with malaise in all tested dimensions; cluster B (n = 15): people threatened by malaise and cluster C (n = 35): people with good well-being. Being male and a higher level of education turned out to be a risk factor. Interviews with occupational therapists confirm a poor adaptation of the activities offered to the needs of, in particular, men and the better educated.Item Motyw szaleństwa w opowiadaniach Brunona Schulza. Studium psychologiczno-literackie(2013) Sienkiewicz, Barbara; Sienkiewicz-Wilowska, Julia AnastazjaRepresentation of various modes, forms, symptoms and degrees of mental illnesses, frequent in "The Street of Crocodiles", are analysed in two perspectives: psychological and literary-cultural. Using the tools of modern psychology, the article interprets the pathological symptoms of Touya, Maria, aunt Agatha, and various other characters, most importantly the advancing illness of father Joseph, who displays symptoms of schizophrenia. Schulz uses a language filled with metaphors, blurring the border between symptoms of illness and metaphors, between the imaginary and the real, and between health and illness, norm and pathology, between the human and the animal. Schulz’s representation of madness opposes the modern understanding, which is dominated by analytical, rationalist identification of an illness, related to a socially determined norm of mental health. It brings back the premodern quality to madness, which becomes a divine phenomenon, related to the pagan rite of fertility, to the “orgy of life” and Dionysian element, and to Freudian life drive. Dionysius and Freud meet in an area independent from the rules of culture and reason: the return to nature, including the nature in a human being. Here, madness becomes a “basic figure” and “the ultimate ur-schema”, as they belong to the unintellectual, basic, ecstatic sphere. This is related to the imperative of penetration of areas that threaten the “balance of the soul”, to address the topic that shows “the scar of removal”, and forces us to ask the question of limits of humanity.Item Seniorzy na terenach wiejskich – możliwości i ograniczenia rozwoju(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2017) Sienkiewicz-Wilowska, Julia AnastazjaLate adulthood is a time when the elderly living in rural areas are especially at risk of exclusion. Very often they have difficultiesaccessing aid institutions and activities which are designed specificallyfor them. Often their functioning depends on good relations with neighbors and the family. Opportunities to increase their social participation and use of their resources include the activities of organizations such as the Rural Housewives’ Circle, or entrusting them with the function of local community leaders.Item Terapia zajęciowa dla osób w wieku późnej dorosłości prowadzona w Dziennych Domach Pomocy Społecznej – stan aktualny, zadania i pożądane kierunki zmian(2018) Sienkiewicz-Wilowska, Julia Anastazja; Zamojska, Eva. PromotorDysertacja doktorska pt. Przedmiot rozdziału trzeciego stanowi terapia zajęciowa (definicje i koncepcje teoretyczne dotyczące tej formy terapii funkcjonujące w Polsce i poza Polską, ustawy i rozporządzenia regulujące prowadzenie terapii zajęciowej i kształcenie terapeutów zajęciowych w Polsce). Rozdział czwarty poświęcony został przedstawieniu metodologicznych założeń badań własnych. W rozdziale piątym zaprezentowane zostały wyniki badań przeprowadzonych we wszystkich samodzielnych Dziennych Domach Pomocy Społecznej w Poznaniu. Item Twórcze, edukacyjne i rozwojowe aspekty aktywności artystycznej osób w wieku późnej dorosłości uczestniczących w terapii zajęciowej w Dziennych Domach Pomocy Społecznej(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2016) Sienkiewicz-Wilowska, Julia AnastazjaThe article discusses the educational, improving and preventive role of creative activities in the activation of the elderly. The considerations are based on results of studies on these activities. The paper analyzes the artistic activities conducted within the framework of occupational therapy in day-time nursing homes (in the city of Poznan). Issues related to artistic activities organized at the Universities of the Third Age and informal education are also included.Item Wizerunek życia osób starszych w oczach ich opiekunów(Wydawnictwo Naukowe UAM, 2012) Wójcik, Sylwia; Brzezińska, Anna Izabela; Sienkiewicz-Wilowska, Julia AnastazjaIn the research we look into the stereotypes caregivers hold about older people and old age and the risk factors increasing the threat of stereotypical thinking. The dominance of negative stereotypes as well as the existence of positive stereotypes distort the real image of old age and the elderly with whom carers work. Our research can be treated as a preliminary diagnosis of carers’ needs. The profi le of the group and the recognition of carers’ problems will allow for elaborating support programmes and developing an accurate educational offer. The research was conducted on 98 people working in four care homes in the Wielkopolska region. A questionnaire, based on Osgood’s semantic differential, specially drawn up for this study was used. The research demonstrates that caregivers do not treat older people in a suffi ciently individualised way. The results of cluster analysis following the k-mean procedure revealed that carers can be categorised into fi ve groups: (1) persons who do not possess suffi cient knowledge about elderly people’s needs and present common sense image of elderly people, (2) persons with realistic image about old age, (3) persons who idealise old age, (4) persons who demonise old age, and (5) persons characterized by ambivalent stereotypisation. In general, strong stereotypes were noted, both positive and negative in character. The results show that a need exists to start a discussion about the educational offer targeted at not only young people training for the profession of carers but also long-time workers of care homes looking after seniors. There is a burning need to develop more individualized educational programmes whose starting point would be a diagnosis of carers’ personal and social resources.
