Characteristics of the Chinese Gaming and Esports Market. Applications for Polish Game Manufacturers
(Wydział Nauk Politycznych i Dziennikarstwa UAM, 2020) Maciej, Walkowski; Weronika, Kempińska
Worldwide, information and communication technologies (ICT) are creating a new post-industrial revolution, the pace, scope and importance of which are unprecedented, without being reflected in the past. Its best manifestation is the Type 4.0 Industrial Revolution. having a huge impact today not only on the living and working conditions of billions of people, but also on the directions of specialization of production and the profits accompanying them. These changes can be described as a revolution based on information, an expression of increasing human knowledge and its application. One of the more interesting manifestations of it, relatively poorly known in Poland, is the increasingly profitable and increasingly important global gaming market and the accompanying e-sports market. The dynamic development of the computer games market in the People’s Republic of China and the development of the e-sport discipline actively supported by the state authorities of this country fit perfectly into the perceived development paradigm. This research problem requires closer analysis also from a Polish perspective, motivated not only by cognitive desire, but above all by the utilitarian dimension. For the increasingly competitive polish video game manufacturers with CD Projekt SA at the forefront, the Chinese market is a great opportunity to increase profits, an opportunity – so far – still too underuly used. On the way to increasing them, in addition to real challenges, chances and opportunities, there are several fundamental barriers and risks, undoubtedly worthy of the scientific diagnosis contained in the presented article.

(Wydział Nauk Politycznych i Dziennikarstwa UAM, 2020) Natalia, Kusa; Kinga, Jasiak
The aim of the article is to compare a NEET rate in EU-28 countries based on the most recent Eurostat statistical studies, and to solve a research problem concerning the situation of youth on the job market through answering a research question how did the NEETs situation change in the period under question which is 2008–2018. An increase of the negative trend of high unemployment among young people is constant, therefore it seems justified for the analysis to cover the period of ten years, which assumingly allows for the more complex assessment of the investigated issue. The analysis is supplemented by the case study of Netherlands which has the lowest NEET rate and as such stands as the example for the other European countries to follow.

(Wydział Nauk Politycznych i Dziennikarstwa UAM, 2020) Shlomo, Waichman
Due to its very nature, globalization undermines the government control. This paper focuses on the impact of globalization on developed states. In particular, it analyzes how globalization has affected each of the following four institutions: (i) governance, (ii) capital markets, (iii) welfare state, and (iv) labor market. This can be summarized as follows: governments have become limited in their decision making, domestic capital markets have transformed into branches of the global market and thus have not been able to freely promote domestic interests, the welfare state serves capitalism rather than protects the society and reduces inequality, and the labor market experiences the migration of workers to developed states, whereas industries moved offshore to developing states.

The Image of China and Russia in the US Press During the Pandemic
(Wydział Nauk Politycznych i Dziennikarstwa UAM, 2020) Mikhail, Rybalko
The United States press negatively portrays both Russia and China. During the current pandemic the image of these authoritarian states has become even more negative. The coronavirus situation works as interaction effects when more radical attitudes are reflected in the internet messengers and internet media. Previous media topics of US criticism have given the way to a dominant topic – the Chinese responsibility for a virus. Any success story coming either from China or Russia is doubted or silenced. No positive news can be found in the authoritarian political system. The data based on New York Times publications are used for the content analysis of the image of Russia and China.
