Material related to Lwów (lwowiana) in the collection of the Library of Kraków Technical University. An analysis of the records in acquisition inventories from the years 1946-1961
Abstract
Na podstawie dwunastu najstarszych ksiąg inwentarzowych Biblioteki Politechniki Krakowskiej pochodzących z lat 1946-1961 sporządzono wykaz, a następnie jednostkowe opisy bibliograficzne 377 tytułów książek wydanych we Lwowie w latach 1747-1939, znajdujących się w zbiorach Biblioteki.
Scharakteryzowano zakres tematyczny lwowianów. W dalszej kolejności analizie poddano zasięg chronologiczny oraz typograficzny publikacji (wskazanie instytucji wydawniczych najliczniej reprezentowanych w zbiorach oraz ich ogólna charakterystyka).
Na charakteryzowaną grupę książek składają się główie podręczniki techniczne autorstwa takich wykładowców Politechniki Lwowskiej, jak: Maksymilian Thullie, Stefan Bryła, Maksymilian Matakiewicz, oraz inne prace z zakresu nauk technicznych autorstwa między innymi Karola Skibińskiego. W zbiorze tym znalazły się również utwory literackie polskie i zagraniczne, przewodniki turystyczne oraz dzieła dotyczące historii Polski i świata, historii sztuki, malarstwa etc. Omawiane publikacje ukazały się nakładem takich lwowskich oficyn wydawniczych, jak Książnica-Atlas, Zakład Narodowy im. Ossolińskich czy Wydawnictwo Polskie. Wśród nakładców znalazły się również księgarnie sortymentowo-wydawnicze, m.in. Księgarnia Polska Bernarda Połonieckiego.
Based on twelve oldest hand-written inventory registers of the former Kraków Technical University from the years 1946-1961, a list, and then individual bibliographical records of 377 titles of books published in Lwów between 1747-1939 that are currently held at the Library, have been produced. In the article, the thematic scope of the materials related to Lwów is identified and characterized, which is followed by an analysis of the following formal features: chronological and typographical range of the publications (identification of publishing establishments or institutions most frequently represented in the collection, and their general characteristics). The group of books discussed in the study mainly includes technical textbooks written by such prominent lecturers of the Technical College in Lwów (Politechnika Lwowska) as Maksymilian Thullie, Stefan Bryła, Maksymilian Matakiewicz, as well as other technical publications written by, for example, Karol Skibiński. The collection also includes literary works written by Polish and foreign authors, guidebooks and titles related to the history of Poland and the world, history of art, the art of painting, etc. The publications under scrutiny were published by various Lwów-based publishing houses such as Książnica Atlas, Zakład Narodowy im. Ossolińskich (the Ossolineum Institute) and Wydawnictwo Polskie. Other initiators of publishing the research and scientific material included bookshop-cum-publishing establishments such as Księgarnia Polska Bernarda Połonieckiego.
