Słów kilka o poematach epickich w interpretacji homerystów(Wydawnictwo Poznańskiego Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Nauk, 2010) Kotlińska-Toma, AgnieszkaThe aim of this paper is to present a detailed picture of homeristai, the characteristic of the artists who have been specialized in acting the scenes from Greek epic. It focuses on analysing the ancient sources relating to their performances, and examines whether they had a burlesque or a more serious character. By providing information on different aspects of the art of acting and the possible text used by homeristai, I try to reconstruct the performances and their significance in the late Greek theatre.Item Obyczajowe obrazki z "Philogelosa"(Wydawnictwo Poznańskiego Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Nauk, 2010) Zalewska-Jura, HannaThere is no doubt that humor is a cultural phenomenon, but existing on the margins of culture. Jokes fall into the category of folklore along with proverbs, nursery rhymes, riddles etc., but we can not think of them as a cultural constant; they come and go with the social and political changes. The Philogelos is the single jokebook written in Greek that survives from ancient times. It contains about 265 items. This collection was probably put together in the fourth or fifth century A.D. Jokes of Philogelos provide us with glimpses into a very different cultural world than our own. The collection deserves not less attention than more serious literary works, because it reflects various aspects of ancient society and daily life of any Greek polis from the third or fourth century A.D.Item Humor w "Cyropedii" Ksenofonta(Wydawnictwo Poznańskiego Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Nauk, 2010) Marchewka, AnnaFilled with ubiquitous didacticism and typical of the Socratic philosophy moral principles, the Cyropaedia still does not lack humour. In his work, Xenophon used plenty types of humour, depending on the purpose, subject and also on the kind of the rhetorical devices. In the same time the author took care of the conformity of the rhetorical devices to the situation presented. The conversation between Tigranes and his wife (III 1, 41) is subtly wit while during the symposiums thrown by Cyrus we can notice some coarse and ironical jokes (e.g. II 2, 28 – 31; VIII 4, 18 – 23). The humour in the Cyropaedia is not only for the compositional reasons but it is also a perfect tool for Xenophon to individually characterize the main character – Cyrus the Elder.Item Elementy komediowe i parodystyczne w "Dionysiaka" Nonnosa z Panopolis(Wydawnictwo Poznańskiego Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Nauk, 2010) Lasek, Anna MariaIn this article the author presents the elements of comedy and parody in the Dionysiaca of Nonnus. The ana- lysis of the passages excerpted from the Dionysiaka shows that the composition of Nonnus’ poem is based on the principle of generic variety.Item Amor i Psyche na kozetce: psychoanalityczne metody interpretacji literatury na przykładzie baśni Apulejusza(Wydawnictwo Poznańskiego Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Nauk, 2010) Stróżyński, MateuszThe purpose of the paper is to show differences in psychoanalytic approach to literary works, especially myths and folktales, with regard to different theories of personality stemming from the thought of Sigmund Freud. In the paper three methods are demonstrated – Freudian (based on Bettelheim’s approach to folktales), Jungian (based on Neumann’s analysis of Amor and Psyche), and that of transactional analysis (based on Berne’s and Karpmann’s ideas on tales and drama triangle). Each method of interpretation gives a different perspective on the meaning of Apuleius’ tale, which might be useful for broadening the view of classicists on this famous literary work.Item Komizm w teorii i praktyce antycznej powieści greckiej(Wydawnictwo Poznańskiego Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Nauk, 2010) Cieśluk, MałgorzataThe topic of the study entitled humour in the ancient greek novels: the theoretical conceptions and the lite- rary practice is significance of humour in ancient Greek novels. In the first part of this study the theoretical aspects are examined with reference to the conceptions of contemporary researchers of Greek novels. The influence of the humour on the character of the world presented in particular novels is considered in the second part of the article.Item Komizm w "Dziejach" Herodota z Halikarnasu – wybrane przykłady(Wydawnictwo Poznańskiego Towarzystwa Przyjaciół Nauk, 2010) Wieżel, IwonaIn the present article I discuss the comic elements engaged by Herodotus in the verbal stratum and content of the Histories. Therefore, I analyze puns as a stylistic devise used by Historian to put an emphasis on some parts of the narrative, esp. on the ethnographic and historical one, after that I discuss selected episodes paying special attention to their ironic dimension. I also try to show how Herodotus uses his literary technique in its comic range not only to make the public of his oral presentations laughing but also to teach them how to live in the wise manner but not without the humour itself. Because Docere apart from Delectare was one of the main purposes of the ancient historical writing.
