Abstract
Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej władze lokalne miast Wielkopolski prowadziły spisy ludności zaliczającej się do mniejszości narodowych. Głównym celem tych działań było zewidencjonowanie i przesiedlenie Niemców. Wizja nagłego i przymusowego opuszczenia miejsca zamieszkania w drodze repatriacji motywowała osoby o niejednoznacznym statusie narodowościowym do udzielenia wyjaśnień w kwestiach takich jak: obco brzmiące nazwisko,
pochodzenie przodków, przynależność wyznaniowa. Ważną rolę dla możliwości pozostania w Polsce odgrywały także postawy przyjmowane w okresie wojny,
które niejednokrotnie
wynikały z przymusu władz okupacyjnych: posyłanie dzieci do niemieckich szkół, wpis na
niemiecką listę narodową, służba wojskowa, stosunek do obywateli polskich. Zachowane
dokumenty archiwalne pozwalają na ukazanie dylematów i trudności, jakie towarzyszyły
urzędnikom państwowym podczas badania przynależności narodowej.
Your own or strangers? National minorities in the urban communities of the Greater Poland cities in the years of 1945-1948 with an example of the Gniezno county. After the end of World War II the local authorities of the Greater Poland cities conducted censuses of the people from the national minorities. The main objective of these activities was to record and resettle the Germans. The vision of the sudden and forced leave of the place of residence by the repatriation motivated the people with ambiguous nationality status to provide explanations on issues, such as: a foreign-sounding surname, the origin of ancestors, religious affiliation. An important role for the possibility to stay in Poland was also played by the attitudes adopted during the war, which have often resulted from the coercion of occupation authorities: sending children to German schools, a listing on the German national list, military service, relation to the Polish citizens. The preserved archival documents allow us to show the dilemmas and difficulties, which accompanied the state officials during the examination of the nationality affiliation.
