Art and Social Sciences. Contemporary Relationships and its Conditions
Abstract
Głównym problemem badawczym podejmowanym w rozprawie jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, jaki charakter mają relacje łączące współczesną sztukę i nauki społeczne. Pracy badawczej towarzyszą trzy główne cele: 1) rekonstrukcja przemian w obrębie studiowanych relacji w kontekście europejskim w perspektywie uwarunkowań historycznych i współczesnych; 2) uporządkowanie i rozwinięcie koncepcji interdyscyplinarności; 3) identyfikacja, usystematyzowanie oraz analiza współczesnych form współdziałania pomiędzy sztuką i naukami społecznymi. Rozprawa składa się z dwóch części: teoretycznej i empirycznej. Część teoretyczna obejmuje: 1) rekonstrukcję historycznych porządków społecznych; 2) opis koncepcji interdyscyplinarności; 3) analizę „interdyscyplinarnych” predyspozycji i strategii wpisujących się w logiki działania nauk społecznych oraz współczesnej sztuki; 4) problematykę współczesnych kontekstów interdyscyplinarnych związków między nimi; 5) analizę stanu badań na temat przedsięwzięć łączących sztukę i nauki społeczne. Na część empiryczną składa się: 6) omówienie metodologii badań empirycznych oraz przebieg badania CAWI; 7) przedstawienie wyników badań dotyczących specyfiki przedsięwzięć łączących sztukę i nauki społeczne; 8) analiza motywacji towarzyszących autorom projektów oraz problemów i ograniczeń, na jakie ich działania napotykają; 9) opis modeli multi- inter- i transdyscyplinarnej współpracy występujących w badanych projektach.
The main research problem of my dissertation is the nature of the relationship between contemporary art and social sciences. The research has three objectives: 1) to reconstruct transformations within the studied relationship in the European context from a historical and contemporary perspective; 2) to investigate the development of the concept of interdisciplinarity; 3) to identify, systematise and analyse contemporary practices at the intersection of art and social sciences. The dissertation is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical addresses: 1) the historical reconstruction of the social orders; 2) the concept of interdisciplinarity; 3) 'interdisciplinary' predispositions and strategies embedded in the logic of social sciences and contemporary art fields; 4) the contemporary contexts of the interdisciplinary intersections between art and social sciences; 5) the state of research on the practices intertwining contemporary art and social sciences.The empirical part of the dissertations includes presentation of: 6) the methodology of the empirical research and the course of the conducted CAWI survey; 7) the research results concerning the specificity of the projects gathered in the study; 8) the analysis of the project authors’ motivations and the problems and constraints that their activities encounter; 9) the models of multidisciplinary collaboration present in studied projects.
