Jazykové prostředky vyjadřující textové vztahy v češtině a jejich zpracování v Pražském závislostním korpusu
(Komisja Slawistyczna PAN, Oddział w Poznaniu, IFS UAM, Wydawnictwo PRO, 2013) Rysová, Magdaléna
The paper discusses by which language means it is possible to express certain discourse relations in Czech. The analysis is based on the annotated data from the Prague Dependency Treebank (PDT) and deals with the language expressions that are not considered classic connectives (i.e. mainly conjunctions and adverbs as therefore, and, but etc.). Examples of such expressions (called alternative lexicalizations of discourse connectives or AltLex's) are the reason is, with the justification that, simply speaking etc. The paper presents the comparison of Czech and English AltLex's and their semantic characteristics – it analyzes their possibility of expressing an anaphoric reference. Finally, the paper demonstrates how discourse may be interlinked with coreference, as new Czech AltLex's in PDT may be found and annotated on the basis of their annotation under coreference.

Bramkarka, architektka, polityczka... Kilka uwag o polsko-czeskich analogiach językowych (na przykładzie nazw zawodowych kobiet)
(Komisja Slawistyczna PAN, Oddział w Poznaniu, IFS UAM, Wydawnictwo PRO, 2013) Dembska, Katarzyna
The article describes the problem of Polish feminine occupational titles in comparison with Czech language. Titles of women’s occupations in the feminine gender can be referred to the model standard in the case of Czech, in which they appear on a regular basis. In the Polish language the current state of knowledge allows for placing such designations within the functional standard, with the reservation that some of them (for example, those connected with sport) are already treated as the model standard. This paper is devoted to the spheres in which feminine forms of the titles of occupations followed by women exist. These include sports, arts, prestigious positions in the public administration as well as in the economy and politics; the army, science and higher education, and the Church. The problem of the linguistic standard and the role of the media in forming the contemporary language are a significant element in the discussion. Hence, the Polish and Czech press texts are the major sources of the research material, whereas lexicographical studies and electronic linguistic corpora facilitate the attempts at verifying the status of particular titles.

Posuny ve zdvořilostních strategiích v současné české společnosti
(Komisja Slawistyczna PAN, Oddział w Poznaniu, IFS UAM, Wydawnictwo PRO, 2013-02) Chejnová, Pavla
The presented article deals with communicative and politeness strategies chosen by Czech native speakers. The method of the research was a discourse completion test; data collected in 2003 and 2011 were compared. Several situations (forms of addressing, thanks, apologies) were presented to the informants, their task was to write down a spontaneous reaction. In relation to Hofstede´s dimensional model several observations were made: power index is getting smaller in formal communicative situations, the use od academic titles declines. There is a rising tendency to individualism and competition, speakers often violate modesty maxim, express their needs and emotions more openly. However, the low tolerance of uncertainty does not allow those tendencies to be manifest in formal situations where there is a great risk of face loss, in formal situations speakers prefer stereotypical formulas and chose indirect strategies.
