Reactivity of silylacetylenes in the presence of Grubbs type ruthenium alkylidene complexes

Abstract

Jednym z najważniejszych zadań współczesnej chemii i katalizy metaloorganicznej jest stworzenie i rozwój narzędzi (nowych reakcji, ulepszonych katalizatorów) użytecznych w syntezie chemicznej.
One of the most important tasks of modern organometallic chemistry and catalysis is the design and development of tools (new reactions, improved catalysts) to be used in chemical synthesis. The reactivity of ruthenium alkylidene complexes toward acetylene containing functional groups, particularly those located in close proximity to the carbon-carbon triple bond is underexplored. Comprehensive study of the reactivity of first-generation Grubbs catalyst and the corresponding ruthenium complexes toward the selected sililoacetylenes was performed. On the basis of the results of equimolar reactions and tests performed with the use of deuterium-labelled reagents, a mechanism of this new reaction was proposed. An effective procedure of the synthesis of bis(phosphine) vinylalkilidene complexes of the general formula [RuCl2(PCy3)2(=CHCH=CR1R2)] was developed. The catalytic activity of the obtained vinylalkylidene complexes was examined in the standard test used for evaluation of olefin metathesis catalysts. Catalytic activity of Grubbs type ruthenium alkylidene complexes in cross-metathesis of selected silyloacetylenes with 1-alkenes and α,ώ-dienes was tested. Conditions of effective run of the process were determined. For the first time a highly efficient, regio- and stereoselective dimerization of silyl- and arylacetylenes in the presence of second generation Grubbs catalyst has been observed.. Some results of the dissertation have been published in Dalton Transaction, 2010, 39, 1923.
