Abstract
Das Engagement Thomas Manns ins kulturelle und politische Leben Deutschlands machte ihn zu einem echten politischen Schriftsteller. Alle Auseinandersetzungen um sein Werk, Missverständnisse und Vorurteile unter Thomas-Mann-Forschern haben oftmals keine logische Begründung. Diese Arbeit versucht die bedeutendsten Aspekte politischer Tätigkeit Thomas Manns zu veranschaulichen, um damit zu zeigen, dass er ein interdisziplinärer Schriftsteller war. Es ist nicht übertrieben, wenn man die These wagt, dass Thomas Manns umfangreiche Literatur ihn zu Medium der Weltliteratur machte.
Przedłożona praca to innowacyjne opracowanie badawcze dotyczące zaangażowania Tomasza Manna w życie polityczne nie tylko jego ojczyzny, ale innych krajów. Najlepszym przykładem, jaki można przytoczyć, jest nawoływanie autora do odbudowy przyjaznych stosunków pomiędzy Niemcami i Francją. Znaczna ilość argumentów, porównanie stanu badań innych autorów, zajmujących się interpretacją dzieł tego wybitnego pisarza, pozwoliła mi na uściślenie pewnych faktów i wyciągnięcie wniosków, które rzucają nowe światło na tak mało znany obszar twórczości Tomasza Manna, jakim jest jego udział w życiu politycznym Niemiec. Należy podkreślić także wybór esejów i przemówień autora spośród wielu innych, które zostały wyselekcjonowane przeze mnie w celu jak najlepszego przekazu treści i unaocznienia sensu działalności politycznej pisarza.
This dissertation present a engagement of the most famous german wirter Thomas Mann in literary and political reality in the time of Weimarer Republic. His engagement in many spheres like culture, philosophy, politics and social problems is the best prove to recognize Thomas Mann as a greatest writer ever. He tried to also fight against Nazis with his political essays. This activities coused, that he must leave his country for many years and move to the USA. But it didn’t stop him to be further in the opposite to Nazis. This dissertation aims to prove that Thomas Mann as a political writer, who engage for his fatherland and fight for freedom.
