The truth - istina on the anthropos horizon in the mind of the Russian religious-philosophical renaissance
Abstract
Prezentowana praca stanowi próbę uchwycenia dwóch kategorii występujących w języku rosyjskim, a szczególniej obecnych w rosyjskiej myśli filozoficznej, którym odpowiada w języku polskim jedno słowo „prawda”. Pracę zamyka omówienie koncepcji Sofii i bogoczłowieczeństwa.
The doctoral dissertation is an attempt at presenting and grasping two categories and words from Russian language that are present not only in common use but, in particular sense, in Russian philosophical thought. To these two Russian words correspond the words “prawda” in Polish and “the truth” in English. On the one hand, in Russian there is a word – term istina (истина). Istina is expressed as the higher truth, objective, absolute, unquestionable, eternal. On the other hand, in Russian there is a word – term prawda (правда) that one can understand as the lower truth, subjective, relative, undermined, human. From such a situation it appears that we can observe peculiar dialectics of crossing of these two terms’ semantic fields (prawda as the human truth, the truth about a man is at the same time the condition for achieving the higher truth – istina). In Russian thought, that is presented in our doctoral thesis, the dialectics mentioned above has specific direction which is set in triadic plane: from original unity on the ground of truth, through the drama of partition, towards its (the unity) returning in the idea of Godmanhood. The dissertation is divided into parts and chapters. The parts are titled as follows: “ORIGINAL ONTOS UNITY”, “CRACKING IN EXISTENCE” and “UNITY RESTORED” and they reflect the dialectical movement that was mentioned. Whereas the chapters discussed different contexts of philosophical functioning of istina category: etymological sources, ontologism as the basis of istina conceptualization, way of expressing and understanding this term, and relation between category truth-istina and category truth-justice. Next chapters show so called “the anthropos horizon” which is appropriate for understanding and merging of meanings two Russian terms of truth; they also concern the ideas of pan-unity and integral cognition. In the next fragments there are presented such spheres of human existence as tragic nature of life, freedom, love, they are showed as possible areas of capturing and reaching the truth-istina. The final part of the thesis elaborates concepts of Sophia and Godmanhood.
