Abstract
Celem niniejszej pracy było zbadanie jakie determinanty warunkują akceptację choroby u osób dotkniętych stwardnieniem rozsianym. Spośród wielu możliwych wybrano optymizm, sprężystość psychiczną, a także strategie radzenia sobie z chorobą. Akceptacja jest ważnym czynnikiem mającym wpływ na przebieg choroby oraz rokowania. Z tego też względu wydaje się istotne, by zbadać co determinuje pojawienie się jej u osób chorych. Pierwsza część pracy przybliża literaturę przedmiotu. Dokonano przeglądu badań oraz teorii na temat optymizmu, sprężystości psychicznej, jak również akceptacji choroby. Przedstawiono także czym jest i jak się objawia stwardnienie rozsiane. W części badawczej pracy starano się znaleźć odpowiedzi na następujące pytania: czy występuje związek między optymizmem a akceptacją choroby - stwardnienie rozsiane przez człowieka ? Czy występuje związek między wyborem strategii radzenia sobie a akceptacją choroby u osoby cierpiącej na stwardnienie rozsiane? Oraz czy występuje związek między sprężystością psychiczną a akceptacją choroby - stwardnienie rozsiane? W badaniach zastosowano metody kwestionariuszowe, których wyniki posłużyły
do przeprowadzenia korelacji między zmiennymi. W ostatniej części pracy próbowano odpowiedzieć na postawione wcześniej pytania oraz dokonać weryfikacji hipotez. Na koniec przedstawiono wnioski wynikające z przeprowadzonych badań.
The aim of the following thesis is to discuss which determinants condition the acceptance of multiple sclerosis among patients suffering from the disease. The analysis of this problem will focus on optimism, resilience, or strategies to deal with such an illness. Acceptance is one of the most important factors determining the course and prognosis of a disease; hence, it is vital to examine how patients start to accept their situation. The first chapter of the thesis will focus on the source literature: discussion of the scientific research and theories of optimism, resilience, and acceptance, as well as it explains the course and symptoms of multiple sclerosis. The research chapter discusses the following questions: is there a connection between optimism and acceptance of a disease – multiple sclerosis? Do accepting and choosing a strategy relate? And finally, is there a relationship between acceptance and mental resilience? The study has been conducted with the use of questionnaires, whose results gave ground to analysing the correlation between the abovementioned determinants. The last chapter, however, aims at answering these questions, and verifying the hypotheses. Finally, the conclusions section discusses the research findings, and provides suggestions for future research.
