Ponowoczesna tożsamość Europy Wschodniej w wybranych utworach Wiktora Jerofiejewa i Andrzeja Stasiuka

Abstract

Celem przedłożonej rozprawy jest rekonstrukcja współczesnej tożsamości wschodnioeuropejskiej odzwierciedlonej w twórczości Wiktora Jerofiejewa i Andrzeja Stasiuka. Analiza tekstów została przeprowadzona na dwóch współzależnych poziomach: kreślonego przez autorów portretu kolektywnej świadomości, uchwyconego w procesie przemian transformacyjnych, oraz ewoluującej tożsamości samego podmiotu poznającego, który podejmuje wyzwanie okiełznania otaczającej go rzeczywistości, a przeto uosabia kondycję mentalną reprezentowanej zbiorowości. Szczególna uwaga interpretatora kieruje się ku figurze narratora-intelektualisty, w ocenie którego przyjęta przez społeczeństwo droga przemian rozmija się z jego wizją postępu, co sytuuje jednostkę w skomplikowanej relacji przynależności i dystansu wobec własnej kultury. W twórczym namyśle Jerofiejewa i Stasiuka praktyka literacka jawi się jako platforma integracji wskazanych napięć na drodze ku możliwemu przezwyciężeniu egzystencjalnego zagubienia, przez co stanowi doniosły instrument ponowoczesnej aktualizacji tożsamości. Proponowanej próbie interpretacji przyświeca ponadto zamiar równoległego zaakcentowania kompetencji odbiorcy dzieła, współuczestniczącego wraz z protagonistą w procesie okiełznania wewnętrznego konfliktu generowanego przez heterogeniczną kulturę i konstruowania tym samym koherentnej autodefinicji.

The aim of the submitted thesis is to reconstruct the contemporary Eastern European identity reflected in the works of Victor Erofeyev and Andrzej Stasiuk. The analysis of the literary text has been carried out on two interdependent levels: the portrait of collective identity, captured by the authors during the process of transformation, and the evolving identity of the literary subject, who takes up the challenge of taming the reality and therefore embodies the mental condition of the represented society. The attention of the interpreter is particularly directed towards the figure of the narrator – an intellectual who sees the path of changes adopted by the society as divergent with his vision of progress. Such a situation places the individual in a complicated relationship of belonging and distance towards own culture. In the works of Erofeyev and Stasiuk literary practice appears as a platform of integrating the indicated tensions on the way to possibly overcome the existential confusion, thus being an important instrument of updating the postmodern identity. The proposed attempt of interpretation is also motivated by the intention to parallely emphasize the competence of the reader, who co-participates with a protagonist in the process of taming the internal conflict, caused by the heterogeneous culture, and constructing therefore a coherent self-definition.
