Abstract
Są to: (1) wysoki lęk przed odrzuceniem, (2) niski poziom kompetencji relacyjnych w obszarze zachowań bliskości psychicznej i fizycznej, (3) nieposiadanie partnera w okresie adolescencji, (4) relacje z jednopłciową grupą rówieśniczą w okresie adolescencji.
The research field of this paper are the conditions of the lack of a lifetime partner in young adulthood. The main objective of my study was to search for constellations of individual characteristics that discriminate people who are single from those who are not. The study is based on data from 430 young adults (students and people who have graduated and work). My research project consists of two phases: the first one was the research using three questionnaires and Kwestionariusz Danych Osobowych. This research was conducted with 430 participants having and not having partners. The second phase of my research was so called semi-structured interviews with 40 young adults (22 women and 14 men) living alone who agreed to take part in the interviews. The aim of the study in the first phase was to compare four variables across two groups of young adults: those who are involved in a serious romantic relationship (n= 243) and those who are not (n=187), namely: (1) adult attachment dimensions and styles, (2) identity status established in ideological and interpersonal domains, (3) relational competence in intimate relations and (4) the extent of relationships with the opposite sex during adolescence. In turn, the goal of the second study was to see the conditions of the lack of a lifetime partner in young adults’ perception. Participants’ responses were grouped into six categories of reasons for being single. As research show people look for the reasons of being never-married according to external and internal factors, but mostly they admit that it is hard to indicate one reason for their singlehood which is often the result of tangled circumstances.
