Kultura oddolna. Praktyki aktywistów w średnim mieście. Przypadek Włocławka

Abstract

„Bohaterem” pracy są osoby i grupy podejmujące działania w obszarze kultury. Ludzie ci organizują pokazy filmowe, slamy poetyckie, spotykają się, by wspólnie grać lub wspominać czasy świetności miasta. Tworzą wielosceniczną mapę kultury amatorskiej i profesjonalnej, uzupełniając, a czasami zastępując ofertę instytucji publicznych. Celem pracy jest zbadanie kulturotwórczej roli inicjatyw oddolnych w mieście średniej wielkości z uwzględnieniem ich oddziaływania w przestrzeni fizycznej, kulturowej i społecznej. Wyszczególniłam trzy kluczowe obszary: tożsamość, usytuowanie społeczne i rolę inicjatyw oddolnych w procesie zmiany. Perspektywa tożsamości skupia się na wewnętrznym świecie oddolnych działaczy. Rekonstruuję świata kulturotwórców, pytając kim są, dlaczego działają i jak konstruują tożsamość za pomocą swoich praktyk. Perspektywa władzy bada oddolność w kontekście dominacji i podporządkowania. Śledzę tu usytuowanie działaczy oddolnych w siatce społecznej tworzących hierarchie. Perspektywa zmiany skupia się z kolei na działaniu i oddziaływaniu oddolnej kultury. W części tej pytam, jak działania oddolne dokonują zmian, zarówno w krótkiej. jak i w dłuższej perspektywie. W rozprawie staram się zatem nie tylko pokazać odrębność tych aktywności w obszarze kształtującego się i kształtowanego społeczeństwa obywatelskiego, ale także przedstawić problemy, z jakimi mierzą się aktywiści. W celu tym pomaga mi usytuowanie wewnątrz badanej społeczności. W niniejszej pracy występuję więc także jako jedna z „bohaterek”.

The subject of study in this thesis are individuals and groups who actively shape the cultural life within their communities. These actors organize outdoor cinemas and poetry slams, gather for collaborative activities, and work to preserve the heritage of their city. They curate diverse cultural landscapes, integrating both amateur and professional endeavours. The objective of this study is to investigate the culture-forming role of grassroots initiatives in a medium-sized city, with a particular focus on their influence within physical, cultural, and social spaces. Through a case study approach, this work adopts a holistic perspective, exploring three central areas: identity, social power relations, and the role of grassroots culture in processes of change. The identity perspective delves into the inner world of grassroots activists. By reconstructing the world of cultural creators, I explore who they are, their motivations, and how they construct their identities through their practices. The power perspective explores grassroots activists within the framework of domination and subordination. This section highlights the position of local activists within social networks and local hierarchies. The change perspective centres on the action and influence of grassroots culture. In this section, I examine how grassroots initiatives drive change, both in the short-term and in the long-term processes. My aim is not only to highlight the distinctiveness of these activities within the context of an emerging and developing civil society, but also to address the challenges faced by activists. To achieve this, I adopt an autoethnographic approach, positioning myself not only as a researcher but also as an activist and central figure in this study.
