The ways of dealing with negative emotions among inmates from Polish reformatories
Abstract
In this article there will be presented conditions that lie under strategies of dealing with negative
emotions taken by inmates from Polish reformatories. The techniques of negative emotions
management implemented by reformatories are compared with emotional reactions popular
among inmates. This article bases mainly on empirical data obtained by the use of qualitative
methods. There were adopted techniques of quasi-participant observation, semi-structural
interview carried among stuff and inmates and documents analysis. Research covered semiopen
reformatories for girls but also semi-open, closed and under special supervision for boys.
