The poor in Opus Lucanum. An Exegetical-Theological Study
Abstract
Temat i istota niniejszej rozprawy doktorskiej są oparte na analizie słownictwa dotyczącego osób ubogich w Trzeciej Ewangelii i Dziejach Apostolskich, zwanych zbiorczo Opus Lucanum. Rozdział pierwszy („Tło historyczno-kulturowe i terminologia ubóstwa oraz ubogich w Piśmie Świętym”) przedstawia zarys tematu ubóstwa i ubogich w Biblii, odpowiednie hebrajskie i greckie słownictwo, oraz argumenty za tezą, że ubóstwo i ubodzy to temat szczególnego zainteresowania świętego Łukasza. Rozdział drugi („Ubodzy w Ewangelii św. Łukasza”) poświęcony jest analizie dziesięciu perykop zawierających kluczowe określenie osoby ubogiej ptōchos. Wszystkie one pochodzą z jednego z trzech źródeł: materiału Markowego, tzw. źródła Q lub z Sondergut, czyli materiału własnego Łukasza. Rozdział trzeci („Ubodzy w Dziejach Apostolskich”) zawiera analizę perykop i wersetów z nowym merytorycznie słownictwem, tj. eleēmosynē („jałmużna”) i diakonia („posługa”), oraz bada summaria, czyli krótkie streszczenia dotyczące życia pierwotnej wspólnoty Kościoła jerozolimskiego. Rozdział czwarty („Ubodzy w Łk-Dz w ujęciu teologicznym”) stanowi refleksję podsumowującą rezultaty badań i niesie konkluzje o charakterze pastoralnym.
The topic and the essence of this dissertation is reliant on an analysis of the vocabulary concerning the poor in the Third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles (Opus Lucanum). The first chapter (“Historical and cultural background and terminology regarding poverty and the poor in the Holy Bible”) presents the poor and poverty in the Holy Scripture, the appropriate Hebrew and Greek vocabulary, and shows that poverty and the poor are a specific concern for Saint Luke. In the second chapter (“The poor in the Gospel of Luke”) ten pericopes with the key word ptōchos were examined. They are all derived from one of three possible sources: Mark's material, hypothetical source Q and Luke’s own material – Sondergut. In the third chapter (“The poor in the Acts of the Apostles”) a new vocabulary has been identified and examined: the Greek terms eleēmosynē (‘alms’) and diakonia (‘ministry’), and also so-called summaries, i.e. short descriptions summarizing the unified life of the original Church in Jerusalem. The fourth chapter (“The Poor in Luke-Acts in theological perspective”) is a reflection summarizing the results of the research and makes conclusions of a pastoral nature.
