The Concept of the State Political System in the Documents of Vaticanum Secundum
Abstract
Jedyną wyróżnioną przez Vaticanum Secundum formą ustrojową jest demokracja. Akceptacja przez soborowy Kościół demokracji polega jednakże na przyjęciu wyłącznie jej sfery instytucjonalnej. Dokumenty soborowe negują jednakże liberalny model demokracji, a Paweł VI w liście Octogesima adveniens wręcz potępia „liberalizm filozoficzny” uznając, iż oparty został na błędnych podstawach. Kościół formułując swoje stanowisko w kwestii demokracji przyjął metodę „równoważenia się”. W myśl doktrynalnych wypowiedzi Vaticanum Secundum i ich wyżej nakreślonej analizy modelem najbardziej odpowiadającym realiom współczesnego świata jest specyficzny model ustroju mieszanego, z całą jednak pewnością oparty na aksjologii chrześcijańskiej.
Vaticanum Secundum distinguished a single form of political system: democracy. Yet the Church’s approval of democracy comprises its institutional realm only. The Vatican Council’s documents deny the liberal model of democracy, and Paul VI actually condemned ‘philosophical liberalism’ in his letter Octogesima adveniens, when he claimed that it was based on erroneous foundations. Formulating its attitude to democracy the Church adopted a method of ‘balancing out’. According to the doctrinal statements of Vaticanum Secundum and their analysis outlined above, the model which is best adjusted to the modern reality is a specific mixed system, which obviously needs to be based on Christian axiology.
